yeah, I shouldn't have said "suckers", I've responded to trolls before and afterward, that's what I felt like I was... I'm careful not to respond to this one about the topic he posted.

The troll is on the board to create wreak havoc or cause shit. They?re either a member of the board under a different name, or from a ?rival? board looking to sting the ?enemy?. The troll will post deliberately controversial topics" (like ?you're all really unfriendly? or ?all XJWs are trolls?) to try and get a reaction. A successful troll will get members of a board arguing amongst themselves, though usually the troll is a witless 15 year old school kid with too much time on their hands during half term.
Sometimes confused with the asshole, who aims to abuse and offend. They usually only have a few insulting phrases in their vocabulary, which they repeat over and over again until they?re either embarrassed into leaving, or when their mother says it?s time for a bath.
(borrowed from 4clubbers.net, which I thought was pretty funny)
He's just waiting to see how many suckers he can lure in to this one.

Give Me Truth or Give Me Misery
by Satanus inyou know, i'm envious of some people who are at home and happy in a group situation.
i miss not being part of a group.
but, i see no group that is lead by truth.

SS, I can see what you mean by this. Part of being the social animal, I guess. I guess most religious groups are great for people who have no problems with going along with others' ideas. I think we all liked being part of the JW group at one time, or at least the idea of it. I guess when it comes to religion, I'm going to be a loner too, for now anyway. But you can have the group thing with any kind of group, ie volunteer group, etc.

A JW just telephoned me... heh heh heh...
by Quotes init must be the end-of-the-mont-scramble to get time in.
i just got off the phone with a gentleman who, talking approx 1000 words per minute, so that i could almost not understand what he said, identified himself as "navin", and wanted to "share a scripture with me".
he clearly did not know who i am or my history, or my website hobby.

funny... it just takes one comment for some people to start questioning and start their own research. Maybe you did him a huge favor.
And that bit about "one of Jehovah's Witnesses". Why do they do that? Why can't they say "I'm a Jehovah's Witness? Is it because the scripture in Isaiah they get this from says, "you are my witnesses" and they feel they can't break it down to "witness" for individuals? or is it because they don't want witnesses thinking of themselves as individuals, but "one of" something?
Just makes them sound like weirdos.

Can I get some neutral insight without being preached to?
by Nancy ini am not a jw but my mother-in-law is.
since the day her son proposed to me (he is not a jw) she has made my life a living hell.
we have been married for just over a year and have a beautiful baby girl.

Nancy,
Welcome. It really sounds like your mother in law has some serious problems. My guess is she wants to force her son to be a JW and thinks you are standing in her way. JWs give advice to their people who live with unbelievers and tell them how to act to "attract" these unbelievers to their religion and she's not doing what they are saying she should do.
This could be because she's depressed and angry but doesn't know why, which is a big part of the JW experience, as it is very depressing. Perhaps she really beleives she has the best of intentions trying to force her family back to the JWs and she has always gotten her way by acting up this way. Stand up to her and be firm, get in her face about it and some of that abuse will stop. It would help if your husband took the matter into his hands, as well.
Hope things work out for you,
IAGN

Bible Mind Control is,,, Faith: belief in the unprovable, which,is glorified
by frankiespeakin in.
the bible gives faith a very high value and make faith in god a virtue that is rewarded with everlasting life.
this,,, is what gives the bible strong power,,, over the mind causeing it not to think clearly and see the clever control faith is.

going back and looking at Frankie's original post - I don't see anything angry or insulting about it, just his observations on faith. It didn't seem like he was trying to antagonize anybody and I'm shocked with some of the criticism he received for it.
I was surprised he was attacked with the claim that his message was attacking. And then the attacker attacked those who agreed with frankie...
Questions to stir up the mentally challenged?
I guess this means that "thinking people" would agree with you, LT, on this topic, and all others are "mentally challenged"... The WTS uses this type of reasoning often... "thinking people would agree...."
Just my observation,

XQsThaiPoes. You had mentioned this before on my other thread about faith, but I thought about it again after you used the term "half truth", which is really pretty strong. Anyway, I'm a little rusty on my OT facts, but wasn't Abraham asked to sacrifice his son? but then didn't have to do it? I could list many examples of OT folks whose actions showed they had faith. I'm sorry but I think I need to disagree with you on the "half truth" label.

yes. Why the need for faith? It smells like a clever control thing... I agree. like they made it up as they went along. Or came along afterwards and added to the original idea. 2000 years later, I'm not buying it.

No sex or marriage for Great Crowd

the watchtower has promised a special group of people that they will have sex, marriage and children in the new earth.
no resurrected person will have these privileges because you have to live through armageddon to get the privilege to procreate.

Wow, Your "right" Jesus Christ sounds pretty harsh.
Some of the other stuff about broken promises sounded like good info, but I will fact check it, especially after seeing the "wrong for all eternity" stuff. That was actually threatening. You know, you really are wasting your time trying to threaten ex-JWs, who have stood up to stupid threats before, and won't like to see it from others on this board.
