What Would a JW Discussion Forum Accepted By The Society Really Be Like?
by minimus insuppose for a minute that the society allowed certain pro-jw sites to exist as long as they were heavily moderated by "mature ones".
what would the site be like?
what types of dialogue would exist?

Higher Education
by eiu2003 inwell, let's try posting a topic.
one of the things i felt i missed out on while i was a witness, other than wild sex when young is higher education.
i quit hs to pioneer and now have just recently finished a college degree and am still working on my masters, but i find myself resenting that i have had to do this all at night and while in my forties.

I'm in exactly the same boat! - 35 years old, a family, work nearly full-time and studying.
Doesn't it feel good to learn stuff that's actually NEW that you haven't learnt before! and not feel guilty about doing it!
I just got a mark back from my last assignment - A Minus - that's a little show-offy I know but couldn't resist.

New Wave JW's . . . I sort of got a chuckle out of this one.
by Corvin inthe apostates over at e-watchman's forum are dillusional .
first class spiritual nutjobs, if you will.
we know they do not consider themselves to be apostate, but they believe they will do the most good by staying in the organization so that when the foundations of the society are shaken, and they believe it will happen soon, they will be there to aid and comfort the jw's who don't know what to do or where to go.

I too went thru ewatchman mode for a while - 'transitional thinking". I couldn't keep up the facade, it was stressful, unrewarding and so I chose to fade.
What gets me is, how can someone be newly baptised while being a secret 'new wave' witness? They would have to lie to the elders asking the baptisamal questions in relation to things like 1914.
Also, they would have to have a good publisher record. They would have to be going door-to-door offering the mags that are full of beliefs they no longer believe in! An experienced JW could get away with avoiding mag placements and just placing the odd brochure that they do like, but I don't see how a new publisher could get away with that without arousing suspicion.
If they really believe the WT will fail, why are they boosting it by going on field service?

Need info. on fading
by kls ini didn't fade from the cult ,i just left so i don't know how fading work's.
do you attend meeting less offten ,do you attend a meeting then not go for a few weeks, then go back then stay away for a month etc.
if you fade to fast do you have to worry about the dredded talk with the elders?

'brain farts' that's an expression I haven't heard before, I like it.
I have faded over the last year or so by giving up door-to-door work, then all field activity, then the Ministry school meeting, then the book study, finally monthly sunday meeting attendance. But to start with it wasn't a deliberate strategy, just a subconscious "I can't stand this anymore" feeling that eventually came to the surface and became a conscious decision once I got up the nerve to look at the internet.
I must say, altho i don't mention my 'doubts' to dubs I meet, if any of them ask me directly why i've quit, I tell them "because I no longer believe in 1914" (even tho there's more to it than that). I find this the least shocking and you can see their curiosity.
Haven't had any elder meetings yet! Maybe it's different in NZ dub culture, in US they seem to disfellowship at the drop of a hat judging from what I've read.
I decided if it comes to being DF'd, so be it. Mind you I only have one rellie who would shun me and we're not close. If a dub asks me straight out why I've left, I would feel heartless not to share some of my new-found "truths" with them out of a fear of being disfellowshipped. Not that i'm judging people who want to keep the reasons for their fade more confidential.

Newbies, Those in Doubt . . . A rant just for you . . .
by Corvin inquote from the e-watchman's forum:
this "organization", whether or not it is in good standing in jehovah's eyes, has given us some very valuable and treasured accurate biblical knowledge.
to deny that would be unfair and perhaps throwing spiritual food back in our father's face ...

Hey I just thought of something else. Is ewatchman giving the glory for the 'spiritual food' to the Father or to the FDS? The Israelites were supposed to follow Moses, but when Moses took credit for himself for getting water out of the rock, he was disciplined. So what kind of discipline does the FDS deserve for all the self-glorying it revels in !!?

Corvin, thanks, I loved your post.
As a fairly recently inactive one, I still need the odd reminder that I've done the right thing, especially after I've checked ewatchman's site and start to feeling like maybe I haven't done the right thing cos he's pulled at old strings ...
I like the point about the Israelite system eventually being cast off.
Thank you again,

May 1st 2004 WT encourages more MacPioneers

The first study article of this WT (Youths, are you Building for the Future?), para 22:
"A spiritual view of things will likely lead you to make decisions that others will not understand. For example, one young Christian man was a gifted musician and an honor student in every subject at school. When he graduated, he joined his father in a window-cleaning business so he could pursue his chosen vocation of full-time evangelizer, or pioneer. His teachers never did understand the reasons for his decision, but if you have drawn close to Jehovah, we are sure that you do."
Does anyone else feel angry when reading this?
What happened to the more balanced view of tertiary education that came in a few years ago? I reckon so many young dubs were going to university, having their minds opened to new concepts and questioning the troof, the WT is now reacting by reverting to exerting subtle pressure on the young ones to not go to university, instead to subject themselves through the hellish life experience of the young pioneer/menial job/poverty trap (hence, MacPioneer).

What does the Convention do, when no one gets baptized?
by DaCheech init was communicated to me last night that an assembly in queens, ny (3 miles from headquarters in brooklyn) had no baptisms!
what does the speaker do when pronouncing the mandatory baptismal talk?
he says the questions (that have to be asnwered), and answers with a "yes" to all showing people what the due answer would have to be!

There were no baptisms at the assembly in my circuit a couple of years ago (that was the second to last assembly I went to). The discouragement was palpable.
The speaker was a warm speaker with a light friendly touch, he mentioned that there was no candidates at the start but said maybe it was because they planned to get baptised at the district convention! Then he gave the talk anyway because it was "a good reminder for us baptised of our dedication" or something like that. I felt sorry for him, having to dream up a fudge.

E-Watchman Provides a Sickening Reminder
by Corvin inmy brief membership to the e-watchman's site was a sickening reminder of the brainwashing and hypocrisy of the wtbts.
through my sources, i have obtained a rare picture of the illusive e-watchman.
why does he look so familiar to me .

I'm curious, someone back there said ewatchman used to post here and had some failed predictions? As a newbie, I would like some examples please? Ewatchman was my first experience of anything about JWs on the net, and it blew me away, his reasonings against 1914 are great, but then the rest of it wasn't convincing, especially his idea that we should stay with the org despite everything. I would appreciate some examples of his failed predictions.
