Children of Men
That was good. One of those very pleasant surprises from a random pick.
that's what my dad has said at various times over many years.
i think it helps encourage him that the end must be very near and the paradise will be here soon.
my thought has always been "oh yes it can get a lot worse.

Intelligence is a predictor of religious scepticism, a professor has argued. Rebecca Attwood reports
She's a headline grabber. Nothing here. One can argue anything...science is about proof. This can't be proven today, "intelligence" can't be accurately measured in a broad enough cross section of humans to even begin serious discussion.
having problem pasting this...
Reggie Dewar
I knew Reggie Dewer, didn't he wear bow-ties all the time? He sold me first pool route (junk accounts he didn't want) when I started pioneering in Canoga Park congo in '72? I believe. I always got the feeling no one really took Reggie seriously, but he seemed to have pull. Nice guy, but different, in Used Car Salesman kind of way. His oldest daughter was a hottie, long red hair. As different from Reg as someone could be.
it's bad here.
the air is thick, gray and burnt.
my lungs ache.
Smoke today in Sacramento is the worst it's been so far. Looks like a solar eclipse outside.
What's wierd is I just realized my garden tomatoes aren't ripening, they are just big and green. There isn't enough sun for them to turn red, almost like it was October.

Well Jimmy looks like you're talking to yourself. That's okay, you're a lovely conversationalist.
Don't mean to interrupt... I haven't read anything by Frank Miller, but the movie Sin City was pretty entertaining. I think it can, and will get far worse than it is today. Not trying to be a pessimist, but I think this roller coaster ride is just getting started.
dmv offers 10,000 replacement license platesthursday , june 26, 2008. .
advertisement raleigh, n.c. .
thanks to some text message-savvy grandchildren, north carolina drivers whose license plates have the potentially offensive "wtf" letter combination can replace the tags for free.
I bet they don't get many takers for that replacement offer.
leaving the borg of jehovah presents a somewhat lonely existence for many of us fallen angels.
for a time we may seek to find an entirely new body-associate.
many may find that after so many years in a controlled environment like the watchtower that they have a hard time finding a large group of friends again.
How about you other loners/semi-loners out there? Are you self-contained? Or do you need friends around?
I fall firmly into the camp of "self-contained" loner. I've lived probably half my adult life single. Happily single too. I have no problem going places alone. I enjoy doing exactly what I want, when I want. Like you, I love music and blast it while I piddle away around the house. Sometimes I like just listening to the birds though. I have a few close friends and do feel the need to talk to others, but not often.
Having said that, if I chance upon a woman who interests me I do my best to try to get to know her. The times I've been involved in relationships, I'm 100% committed. My most recent girlfriend had 3 young kids (ages 6-10). I spent more time with her kids than she did. I love kids. I was constantly taking them to the lake, hiking, to the park etc. (They were brats too . Sorry just venting. ).
I'm not sure I could say which I prefer...I like aspects of both I suppose. If I'm single I have fun with that...and if I'm in a relationship, then that gets all my attention. It's funny, normally I'd never go "window shopping", or craft shows etc. But I've dated women that loved doing that stuff and I always had fun when I tagged along.
This subject is something I often think about, but I sure have no answers.
there were 13 of us - one baby girl died in infancy, however.. here's the link: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24537885>1=43001.
sylvia.
How could you even remember the name of 18 different children. Trying to help 18 kids with homework, social issues, encouraging their hobbies, teaching them how to tie their shoes...etc. "Daddy can you help me cut up my food..." "Sure Honey. Lets see. You are behind Marsha, Sue, TommyJoe, Cynthia, Anne, Pete...umm, John, Sara." "Daddy...Cynthia died last week." "Oh yeah, sorry I forgot. Lets see I should be able to get to you on...Tuesday?"
Most importantly
but what I see as irresponsible is increasing our population that much
18 kids might have been ok 500 years ago, when the mortality rate was far higher....today? Sorry. You want more kids than two? Adopt some orphans from a 3rd world country and save them from starvation.
I see nothing here that can be justified nor condoned.
Being forced to watch Ma and Pa Kettle movies for eternity might be a suitable punishment?

COCO- I traveled for my business to the towns of Placerville and Cameron Park in the Sierra today- the smoke was not as bad as further north. But the closer I got to home - due to closer fires it was sick and smoky. I do hope the fires are put out soon . Too many people are suffering from it. Peace out, Mr. Flipper
Sacramento actually was a bit improved today because the Delta breezes resumed. Still nasty though.
first, they continue to fund the war in iraq by passing supplementals.
now, it looks like they are going to pass the so-called "telco amnesty" bill and basically tell their trial lawyer constituency to 'stick it'..... you resident liberals and bush haters, what's going on here?
are nancy pelosi and harry reid asleep at the switch?
Whats amazing is that I used to think that *I* was the only one who thought our Government was past redemption. It's difficult to find anyone now who approves of our appointed, er elected leaders.
Independents are actually being taked seriously now by both parties. Well, the one party anyways. The differences between Republicans and Democrats is almost like the superbowl...does it really matter who wins?
