Absolute truth of life's mysteries can not really be proven ..,,right?
by LyinEyes inshe really believes in some of the things she said, others things she is speculating on she admitted.... i admired her open mind to not thinkng she has all the answers.
she is not a christain she said.
my son and husband sat up for along time, comparing notes , debating on comparing what the bible says, what scientific evidence, historical evidence says, regarding jesus.

But the main reason is........................................Because I want to,,,,,,,,,because I can!!!!!
Eyes, I love ya...having lived in Luzyana from 2 years old, til 15, you do write jus like ya' talk down there...it's music to my ears! Don't change a thang.
Since I was Texan and both my parents too, I remember being asked by the teacher and kids in my class, "Hey, ware u frum boy, ya' kinda sound like a Yankee?" I said, "Naw, dang it, ahm not a Yankee -- ah ahm from Texus!" They did not believe me in that little high spot in that swamp called Houma. It's about 90 miles SW of New Awlens (Orleans) yes, there is actually land down there!
The whole expereince of life is hard,,,,,but very well worth it and I hope there is more after we die,,,,,,,,,then I think , that is when we will have the answers.
Hell yes, it is worth it ya' know...(excuse me),,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but,,,,, being married, knowing love, having 3 beautiful children, eating an Orange or Chicken Fried steak or sitting on a mountain in awe of what I see and feel...if that's all there is...it's OK. I don't want to die, but if I was going to -- I'd say Thanks for the ride!

Shamus:
I take Paxil, and it works, but say a complete and final goodbye to any sex life that you may have enjoyed. If you think I'm kidding, just try it.
Been there done that with different ones, it is so bad it can wreck a marriage. My goodie-2 shoes JW X wife actually thought I must have had 'sombody on the side' cause of our sex life problems -- even tho' I gave her the attention. I'm sure others have had this problem, too.
See what your Doc says about 'Remeron' a new class of drug...it is not a SSRI. It worked extremely well for me, it is well known to produce almost no bad side-effects. The only one they said is common is weight gain, it makes you crave carbohydrates. I did gain 40lbs...then lost it after I stopped it.

I would stress again, like Blondie,...a specialist really needs to be involved. They have the real expertise to understand how the body responds to meds and the interactions. They also don't have nearly the case load a GP can have, a specialist will have more time to ask specific questions and make observations. My insurance - Aetna - will not even allow a GP to precribe certain drugs, a specialist must first see you and periodically. The GP can Rx refills only.
And like Wednesday said, many drugs have multiple uses. I take Depakote & Neurontin for my epilepsy and it works, my neurologist took over 1.5 years before he found the right combo of Rx's to control my seizures. Normally, Depakote is used as a treatment for Bi-polar, my Rx is a much smaller dosage.
Also, I was able to get off anti-depressants altogether a year ago, a lot of good things started happening in my life...I had had some time away from the WTS, went thru and recovered some from a hideous divorce and then best of all -- best of all , met and fell in love with a great gal, we've since married.
As somebody said, sorry don't remember who, "the Doctor should give an Rx to the person -- to get out of the JW's."
Yep...that would do it...

They JW, mainly GB and elders,,,,,,,,,,are Pharisees,,,,,gone wild.
That sounds like some video on late nite TV..."College Girls Gone Wild" or "X-JW's Gone Wild Eating Chili in Dallas"
Seriously, tho' it is rough trying to figure out just what to do. Somethings, are easy for me doctrine wise, like 'God/Jesus ???' the most simple explanation is Jesus is God's Son. The Bible says it so many times, Jesus 'talks' to his Father, prays to him, thinks his Father has 'forsaken him' I just don't think he was talking to himself. There are a couple of scriptures that some could take one way or the other and say Jesus is God, but with all the chances of mistakes in translation, I would not pin anything down on 1 or 2 sentences. I'll go with volume on that.
HellFire that one is easy for me...I just don't believe that a God of Love, which I believe he is, could not possibly justify killing people in a judgement, but not REALLY killing 'em...toasting them in excruciating pain forever n' ever. Really, in our shitty imperfect lives, pollutted & damaged brains, he would hold our toes to the brimstone...forever? No...that one at least is easy for me.
I figure there were only 3 perfect people ever on earth and 2/3rds of them could not keep from sinning in even 'little' sins, damn. What possible chance do we have? If Adam & Eve are true, God evidently let them live hundreds of years. So, if the dubs what to try and scare me with dying at Armegedden or the Catholics or the almighty Southern Baptists want to mess with my mind and scare me with HellFire, I will point the way to Heaven with my middle finger. \_i!ii

Here's another link I found. A friend of my wife takes Lithium, too. Yeah, it can have some bad side effects, but, to her it is a life saver. But, like Lyin' said, it takes a real toll on her. She too, was a good artist -- she just 'can't' anymore. Same with the lack of emotions...what a human cost there is when tiny brain chemicals don't work -- just right.
I hope she gets many opinions to keep from being over-medicated. And the only Doctors I would let precribe those medications would be neurologists, psychiatrists or encrinologists they are the true experts. I have Epilepsy from a head injury, that can and did cause a change in Seratonin and other chemical levels and caused major depression in me. I had to absolutely demand that if I felt over-medicated, something had to be done. If you are complacent about your treatment, you don't challenge them do do better for yourself or your charges -- then they may be the same with their treatment.
http://mentalhealth.nami.org/helpline/lithium.htm
'Google' lithium or any other drug and you'll come with a lot of good stuff. WebMD.com is good -- they have an interactive Rx look up, you can find out the uses, side-effects and even a graph where you can add different Rx's one at a time to see if there are bad interactions between different drugs.

Hi Eyes,
I really want to be a believer,,,,,and I am working on that. In my own personal life,,,,,,,it is very important to me. But as of yet, I feel kind of stuck in the rut of uncertainity , either way.
Me, too I feel that same void Dede, sometimes I wonder if it's 'cause the Wash-tower TOLD us over and over -- "we have the Truth" so, there is no where else to go! I tend to look around at all the religions I came across when regular pioneering 3 years...I see all their 'faults'. Things which even today I think are hypocritical, I just draw a line thru their names and say -- not them! I look around and think -- there are lots of things I see that the Witnesses do right -- like their non-racist viewpoints, generally being law abiding, anti-war, etc. things that are important to me.
Of course their family breaking practices of DA/DF, shuuning, their secret laws, blood issues , etc. is MORE than enough to X them off my list, too.
Maddening isn't it...?

Liberal Equals Ex-JW
by patio34 insomething i've noticed on this board is that there seem to be many more liberal-left types than conservative-right types.
what do you think of my following theories?
in the 70s, many converts to jw-dom were influenced by the anti-establishment philosophy and anti-viet nam war.

- In the 70s, many converts to JW-dom were influenced by the anti-establishment philosophy and anti-Viet Nam war. Because the JWs said all governments are wicked, etc. Had I been a conservative type, that wouldn't have appealed to a patriotic, right-wing type.
I've been thinking a lot about this lately. I think many of your ideas hold water with myself and others here. My Dad is ultra-conservative, racist views and was x-Navy. I was turned off to all those things and gravitated towards my Mom's JW religion. To ME, they seemed liberal in those views. The other was I was very much concerned about the rape of our environment. I began studying about the "Paradise Earth," and I was hooked.
Now... I see I had gotten into an Org. that was in reality very conservative in some ways, especially social issues. I now look at things, i.e. sexual, gay or lesbian marriages and relations, political issues and such, I am very liberal in what I think are personal choices and none of my business.
On Religion: I still believe in a God named Jehovah, but not the way the JW's do and not necessarily think the Bible is literal. However, organized religion of any kind (to me) constitutes the greatest threat to mankind. In THAT I am totally disgusted.
Independent Attitude among JW's: I think that may be true, too (outside of WTS). We DID have to literally stand up against the world. I wonder if a large percentage of X-JW's are even MORE independent I was always told THAT was one of my problems -- that I was not conforming well in the JW's .
On Politics: Dispite George Bush's mistakes or questionable actions -- I believe in time of war, he is the one I would want leading this country...we have too much to lose. Bush won't back down from terrorism, I would be afraid if Gore was at the helm. However, if there was no war going on...I would resort back to my environmental roots...and vote for Ralph Nader !
Suggestion: Perhaps you can think of a way to poll us on these various ideas? It would be interesting to see how that turns out. There may be clues in there as to why we were able to leave.
