  Any one out there been diagnosed with bipolar?

  i've just started being treated for bipolar disorder, used to be called manic depression.

  medication i'm now (lexapro) on seems to be working really well.

  i do worry about how my being bipolar will effect my kids.

  My nephew just told me that his doctor told him they are thinking that antiseizure meds work so well for bipolar because it's possible mania is a seizure of the mood part of the brain. Very interesting to ponder.

  I have Epilepsy, Temporal Lobe, Partial Complex - from a head injury, I take Depakote which is what a friend takes for his Bi-Polar Depression. So...commonly I have had Nurses taking Rx info try to put down Bi-Polar, I have to explain, "No..."

  The difference is the dosage, he takes about 4 times the strength I do. I think there are others that work this way, too.

  i once was a younger girl, and i could command any man to do what i wanted because i was beautiful and young.

  now that i am older and uglier, i have to use my wits.

  Country Girl,

  Now I understand your other post about "If something happened to you" you wanted someone to help you. I can see easily that you are depressed and scared. Our heart goes out to you and yours...

  We are going thru something similar, last year...her only son from a previous marriage was arrested for drug possession and found guilty of a felony. This is his second time in prison, he's only 25. It is very heart-breaking for her, to know the dangers of prison. I hope he learns his lesson this time, if he had kept going the way he was on the outside, he would have ended up dead, because of the people he was hanging around with.

  His total time now, in Jail and Prison, here in Texas is 3.5 yrs. he too, is a very handsome kid, but nothing like what you fear ever happened to him. You are being his Mom in your fears, things like that do happen, but not as common as you fear. The most important thing, from what I can see...is who he hangs with, watching his attitude, becoming a Trustee asap, this will help get him out quicker. I truly wish the best for him and you.

  Sometimes people go in with an bad attitude, where they reject the total authority there, those people end up serving there whole sentences or more.

  When is all this supposed to happen? Please keep in touch with everyone here, of course you'll be worried like any loving Mom would, but try to deal with it, one day at a time. If you need to talk please write or call.

  Keep your head up...Never Surrender...!

  We went to see it Wednesday, it seemed a little campy at first, but, we got into it. The endings were surprising to say the least. Did y'all 'jump' at that one part? I won't give it away....

  Everyone's advice is usually good and helpful, you explained both ways very well by the 2nd post, that showed you are fair-minded, so don't worry. Read some more on the board and you'll surely say, Damn...can't believe he/she said that...glad I didn't!

  On recording stuff : In an Elders meeting, according to their "Secret Elder's Manual"...recorders are not allowed under any circumstances. They would not like their ill-chosen words to come back and bite'em in the A$$ !

  In a meeting like that of my own -- I did "wear a wire" without their knowledge...it helped me to reconstruct what everyone was saying, so I could do a transcript. I never had to "use" against them, but, I figured in case I needed to, I could get their attention.

  However............here is something you might be very careful about what you DO with the recordings you make.

  1. In a conversation...at least one of the persons involved, MUST be aware that it's being recorded.

  2. If no one is aware...there MUST be an audible beep that can be heard by all parties, the interval is between 10 - 15 seconds between beeps,

  3. Of course, both or all parties can agree to be recorded.

  4. Here is the BIGGIE...if you allow other people (not on the recording) to hear the tapes...it could be considered as Wire-Tapping. This could be a FELONY.

  5. If you were in a Court Case and told a judge you had recordings, it's OK, but, the Judge would have to make a ruling on whether you can use it and how.

  So, be careful...

  A footnote: Towards the end of the meeting...I heard and felt a SNAP ...the tape hit the end and shut-off ! I cannot believe they didn't figure it out, as soon as I heard it I started 'popping' my knuckles to divert their attention. I thought I was going to get into a wrestling match in that library ! lol

  I would advise you to not meet with them either. They will gang up on you with different personalities, coming from different angles. It's like dealing with 3 prosecuting attorneys and you having no right to a lawyer yourself.

  If you say anything wrong, according to their well-tuned JW ears, they will pick up on it. If they "got up on the wrong side of the bed that day," or feeling generous or not -- is a throw of the dice !

  If you haven't already read them...read "ShotGun's" recorded accounts of his encounters with the Elders.

  I agree with Wednesday, in your first post it did sound exactly like she said, it was like we should feel a sense of 'guilt' if we fade or don't confront them -- head-on.

  Your 2nd post tho', imo, finished explaining your thoughts. I do not mean to speak for Wednesday, but, we have seen some very aggressive posters here (well-meaning) almost demand that we 'throw our beliefs into the Elders faces' and our relatives, too.

  I have been fading for 7 years, I had an un-scriptural divorce forced upon me...then I remarried, to a non-witness several years later, causing a big uproar with JW relatives. Most of us have a lot of relatives that are JW's which puts us (and them) in a Catch-22 position...we have a lot to lose and if they appear to 'go along' with us they're collective butts are on the Elders chopping block. It goes on up thru the ranks to CO's & DO', too, all the way to the GB. If f a d i n g is the best way for us, NOBODY has a right to deride us.

  BTW, you did not do that...what you said, sorta hit a nerve...you are new here and would not have seen some of these posts I was referring to. Some of those literally called us f a d e r s... "cowards" and "chicken" for not "doing as I do." Everyone here has their own circumstances and abilities to deal with the "Elders" and must respect everyone elses' choices.

  Any advice tho' is always appreciated and getting a broad spectrum of ideas about a situation -- helps us make our personal decisions,

  JWD ....the opium of the Ex ?

  marx reckoned religion was the opium of the people, i'm no marx, but i reckon jwd has become the opium of the exjws.

  it satisfies a need, gives one a purpose, feels someone with a greater sense of purpose, trys to give one a purpose and reason for being here, and very closely becomes a "religion" of sorts to many.

  many here claim they stay to help others out of the wbts, where in fact i think they stay because it has become their new "opium" its a focal point they can meet with like minded individuals to further their own new "belief".

  I was prepared to be more harsh with you in my reply, because imho, you seem to like to attack everything and almost everybody here -- just for being here.

  YET, YOU ARE HERE. And a lot longer than me...is JWD is Opium, then I think you are addicted yourself. When you say things like that general, blanket accusation...it covers me, too. That's when my ire gets up, because you are being unfair to me.

  As I said, I was prepared to be really harsh, until I read Talesins' and Little Toes' posts. What they said makes sense. Everyone takes their own time and their own pace, because they have different circumstances. And like Little Toe said, some irritants that are scratched just get worse...

  I wish you would just stop the whining attacks that seem to be 99% of all your posts. You recently had one about the lady that was a JW in the hospital, that you were taking care of...that was an honest good post that many people responded to, including me, in a very good way. You let us into your life.

  I don't like all the controversy all the time, no one really expects you to fit into any mold. I don't agree with or even like some of the people here, but unless they attack me in some way I think is unfair...I figure "to each their own." You can leave or stay...anyone can. I hope you stay. I hope you show up at one of the X-JW get-togethers and meet them. I did just that in Dallas recently. I think it could be a good thing for you, like it was for me. You'll find they are just normal people with the same likes and dislikes and fears and feelings and concerns...that you and I both have.

  After all the 'work' you put in our our behalf organizing our Festival that must have ben the perfect place and way to decompress...good for you.

  Thanks again, we had a fantastic time with you and everyone else in Dallas.

  btw...my nipple is still healing up well after that twisting....lol
