  Naturally, any quote taken from an article can be said to be taken out of "context." The comments on this thread have not been to blame the troops or sensationalize them as some crazy murderers. Instead it seems that most people regret that this accident happened and some feel the US holds some responsibility for putting our troops in this situation. Please don't white wash the facts. And if you think this thread is, for the most part, being taken out of context, then please specify which comments.

  Thi Chi, I don't think this has been taken out of context. No one seems to be blaming the US troops for taking a defensive action. The facts are that young children and civilians are dying everyday, all because the US wants to eliminate a possible threat in Hussein. Many are sad about these deaths and blame the US gov't for starting this war. Others have no problems with this "collateral damage" as long as it means that they are guaranteed their personal freedoms (which oddly enough don't have much to do with this war.)

  books and magazines all full of dire warnings..stay away from the world..don't have sex outside of marriage..armageddon is just around the corner..avoid worldly associations..look out for this, look out for that.

  the list goes on and on and on.. yet the wtbts predictors of doom and gloom department never, ever, in their worst nightmares, ever saw what it was that would prove to be their nemesis.. that ex-witnesses, the majority of them disfellowshipped and, therefore, supposedly gagged and without a voice, would find a way to communicate with one another via the internet.. i wonder if the fact that they brought this upon themselves is clear to them?

  Agreed William.

  I've read several different reports and they all seem to say that a warning shot was fired and a shot into the engine. Whether or not it was soon enough, who knows. I can't really fault the troops for this as they were probably scared as hell of dying while the Iraqi van was speeding towards them, especially after a suicide bombing done in a similar fashion at another checkpoint. I CAN fault the US gov't for sending them over there though.

  This makes me wonder if pro-war supporters still feel the same way. Is all this "collateral damage", especially 5 year old children, worth it in order to eliminate someone who poses a POSSIBLE (not a definite) threat to the US population? The Iraqis obviously don't want our "liberation." I sure hope anyone who supports war can at least sleep better knowing that another "threat" has been eliminated. Only another 500 to go....

  According to your logic, then we are also passively supporting every other dictator and human rights criminal by not policing the world. To take it even further, you are passively supporting Hussein since you are not over their helping fight this war. To old to enlist you say? Well why not go buy a gun and jump in your car? Just because you vocally agree with a war does not mean you are providing support for it, therefore you are passively supporting Hussein. And by the way, moral support doesn't count as the soldiers aren't in a position to receive moral support until their return. They don't even know what's going on in other parts of the war in Iraq, let alone the US and UK.

  I've heard stories both ways and would love to see some verification either way. I've heard they helped a lot of people from active witnesses and that they locked the doors up from ex-JWs. I'm sure the truth is in the middle somewhere. FYI, their commisary is not really a supermarket, more like a corner market at best.

  i am new here and i usually dont come to these type of places as they are rampant with apostates.

  i still belive in most of the teachings but its the people in the org.

  that have turned me away.. the reason that i am posting though is this, i have been inactive for a few months now but i have been holding out telling my parents, friends etc.
