I may get a visit from the P.O. :(
by crownboy ini think i may have a potential problem on my hand.
over the last year or so, i've been attempting to go the slow fade route with the jw religion.
for the most part i've succeded, as my significant decrease in jw related activities has been greeted only by brief "pep talks" by my parents at worse.

There are a couple routes you can take...you could use the "hectic life" excuse in which case you will get a lot of reminders and encouragement (at least you should if they are doing their job) of how important the meetings are and you will have to say "yeah, I know, I know" a lot.
Or you could tell them that you have a lot of questions and are having a tough time so you have resolved to study the bible closely, and pray a lot and wait on Jehovah for answers. That is what I have done. I am on a 10 year rampage of thoroughly studying the bible before I can come to any conclusions.
For me, neither of these are lies and they wouldn't be for most people on this board, but its a good way to avoid saying anything that can be used against you. I, for one, will not let them DF me.

Probably, but the fact that they are still there shows them to be liars, hypocrites and more concerned with their own security within Bethel than they are about those who are dying and having their lives ruined daily because of Watchtower Bullshit(tm).
Short speeches like that should do the trick to endear them to come clean.
Remember that the main JW ideologies requires rationalization. So many that are still JWs are able to rationalize things and not feel as those they are wrong or lying. I certainly don't feel that they are all liars and hypocrites.

I feel the same way about them not being missionaries. But if that is the case, then the WT wouldn't have known they were going to be preaching in this volatile area and not had the foresight to get any insurance on them. Even if they did have the foresight, I don't think they would ever buy kidnapping insurance as I don't think many JWs get held for ransom. So that leads me back to my original point of...what exactly can the WT do? I don't know but my guess is that in this situation, they can't pay a ransom even if they wanted to (and maybe they have already tried...who knows?)

ISP,
Interesting point. However, I don't think it has been determined whether or not these were official missionaries sent there by the WT. They were from the Phillipines so very well may have gone on their own accord. I don't think it is feasible to expect the WT to take out insurance on every single JW that lives in a volatile area as I don't think kidnapping for ransom is a normal enough occurence. And I don't think it can be purchased retroactively, so it is too late for these 4 victims.
I don't know enough about how the different governments handle these types of situations, but from the news reports it seems that the Phillipine gov't is taking complete control and would not allow any ransom's to be paid since they said that would be their last resort.

by deceit inmuslim rebels in the southern philippines have beheaded two christian hostages, part of a group of jehovah's witnesses seized on tuesday.
the two severed heads were found by the philippines military on the remote southern island of jolo.

Then what did you mean when you said "you reap what you sow" in reference to the victims? And "now you gotta pay?"
I tell you what, rather than argue semantics with you two linguistic geniuses, I'll rephrase my post...
But when this thread was started about the men who kill people in the name of religion, you said about the victims "I don`t feel sorry for them at all..They went to preach death and destruction, and thats what they got....You reap what you sow."
This is getting very boring now. You can have the last word, because no matter what you say, you are obviously a jerk. I'm done with this thread.

OUTLAW and OUTLAW's SIDEKICK(Dungbeetle) -
So sue me. I don't have time to argue semantics with you two. It is obvious who Outlaw blames for this horrible incident.
144001,
No hard feelings at all. I realize there is always a flipside of the coin opinion and I understand people are passionate about it. I think we are in agreement on this thread though.

and
They have no one to blame but themselves.
and
Now you gotta pay..Chop-chop...

Hey amac, dungbeetle is free to post where ever she likes, and say what she wants. This is not your thread and your not an elder here little man...OUTLAW
What are you two, a tag team? I can see that she is free to post wherever she likes because she keeps doing it (following me around and attacking me on threads.) I am also free to continually ask her to stop. Now butt out and quit trying to play elder, you're (notice the apostrophe and the letter E) not an elder her big man.

Your the guy talking about drunk drivers on a thread about beheaded dubs. It`s hard for you to keep up eh?
I'm sorry you didn't understand the analogy, I should have figured that. It has to do with your desire to place the blame of these beheadings on the JWs for being in the wrong place and preaching to people. If you can't see the correlation to the analogy, then it is really not worth the time to try to explain it.
Exactly what bitterness am I consumed with?
Again, I don't have the time or desire to break the obvious down for you.
Why would I want a world full of people willing to kill or support an organization willing to kill in the name of their religion?
I don't know, only you can answer that. But when this thread was started about the men who kill people in the name of religion, you said the people deserved it for going into a dangerous area where these men were. Do I need to quote your post?Edited by - amac on 23 August 2002 14:22:46
