Terri Schiavo's best friend also attested to her declarations .... motive please? 20 courts have heard and examined all of the evidence in this case over the course of many years ... let me guess ... a VAST conspiracy, right? That includes the charges of abuse profferred against Michael Schiavo --- reviewed and summarily dismissed without merit? Lies, of course?
Let's see, what else? the accusation that Terri is suffering like a dog or other sub-human species .... being painfully starved by the HOSPICE where she is staying.... hmmmmm.....anyone familiar with hospice care? whose purpose is to help people die painlessly? unh hunh??
I pity the parents of Ms. Schiavo who are being used as pawns by the many right-to-life organizations and politicos to promote their personal agendas. It is too bad they aren't standing by their daughter's wishes .... and her husband whom they testified under oath to have great admiration and respect for ..... PRIOR to being left out of the monetary settlement. That's right, the same settlement that has gone to care for Ms. Schiavo these many years.
God I am sick of the tripe being tossed around regarding this case. What goes around comes around.

there is a petition to sign on the site to save terri.

actually it was 3 individuals on 2 separate occasions (funerals) that heard her wishes, including her best friend ... not just husband. Age (26) seems old enough to me to know what you want. I do agree it would be best to have had it in writing, look what would have been avoided. But if you are relying solely upon the parents' side of the story ... remember that emotions can wreak havoc and there are 2 sides to every story. For every claim the parents make, there is a countering version from the husband. I don't care to restate it blow by blow as it wouldn't change anything ... including your opinion or mine. Since neither one of us can know the entire story, and countless courts, judges and doctors have come up with a consistent ruling ... we should abide by the law and their judgement and let the woman die in peace.

Her custody needs to be returned to her parents They love her and want her to live.It is not about what her parents want. It is about what Terri Schiavo's stated intentions were. I do not believe that the 3 people she told all got together and conspired to misstate her wishes. She was an adult when she stated her desires and her parents no longer have control over her.

there has always been executions throughout the history of human society and we're still around. it seems that capital punishment does not 'doom' society.
I obviously was not speaking in general terms *human society*. Societies that advocate violence and government-sanctioned killing haven't fared too well in history....I guess 'cause we don't chop off hands for thievery and stone people for other offenses, we are a rung above, eh?
Avi- life in prison is a far more fitting penalty IMO. Let them live their natural course of life severely restricted and forced to contemplate their deeds and the consequences.

Until we place the appropriate value on our children and express that value by destroying any that would harm them, we are handicapping our own efforts.
Sorry but I was molested for my entire childhood (beginning in 4th grade till Sophomore in high school) AND am the mother of 2 and I vehemently disagree that we should systematically destroy these people ... as in KILL them (*dead* perps).

There were a disturbing number of requests for monetary donations. I saw no compelling evidence that would lead me to believe the parents' version vs. the husband's version.
Unfortunately this woman's wishes aren't documented in writing. That is why the courts have been involved and have handed down numerous rulings, supported by experts and existing law.

2 sides to all stories. I have read all the parents/siblings claims ... the husband claims other. If this is about money why has he turned down offers of millions to walk away? supposedly there IS no life insurance. If she did, at 26, request not to be kept alive then it should be honored. 26 IS old enough, IMO, to make this decision. When you marry, parents give up legal rights to spouse. What is his motivation? spite?

More than anything it should encourage all of us to make our wishes known and documented. As far as congress, they should stay the hell out of it. That is what our judicial branch is for.
