Songs that remind you of your Mum . . .

i remember my mum standing at the kitchen sink preparing little cypriot meat patties in a beat up enamel dish.

there was a window overlooking the small garden where me and my brother and sisters used to play (wonderful, wonderful times before the cult got its tentacles into our family).. my mum used to sing lots of tunes but this lynn anderson song is the one i remember .

The "WOW!!" moment...Theocratic Ministry School was a sham!

i just remembered something from long ago..... i moved to california in 1974 after i had been in "the truth" for 11 years, having full-time pioneered and also having served time in federal prison over the so-called christian neutrality issue.. i felt completely confident that my bible education was the best on planet earth.

i had honed my skills by door to door preaching, discussion, arguments and attendance at the theocratic ministry school.. i began working as an artist in a huge company that manufactured all kinds of art, sculpture and wall hanging.

the head of the artists was a wonderful young man, skilled artist and devout christian who took me under his wing.

Admittedly, in a church I recently joined, there were those who treated it more like a social club, but there were shining examples of individuals who seriously took to studying scripture. There was one who turned me on to a book by Clarence Larkin if I'm not mistaken. He had an original copy that dated all the way back to before 1914. Dispensational Truth was the title of the book. It was so old, but the teachings in there were absolute fascinating. Even a chapter on the teachings of pyramidology which helped me to appreciate why CTR may have believed there was some hidden spiritual meanings and secret knowledge within the contruction of those pyramids. There are those within the walls of those Churches who are well equipped and can run circles around a lot of Jehovah Witness theology.

the love of animals

no, not that sort of 'love'.

how do you feel about animals?.

never been one for pets although when a jw we had our fair share.. these days i just love looking out the window in the morning and seeing the wild rabbits eating our long grass (even though out here we are supposed do do out bit to eradicate the 'pest').

I've got a soft spot in my heart for all things living. Humans included. I can't bear the thought of killing anything, except house flies and mosquitos. They recieve an instant death sentence. Though I do on occasion try to escort flies out of the window before having to resort to drastic measures. Creepy crawlers, 1000 leggers, spiders and the like, I try to give them room to stay alive. Everything on earth, wants to live. I try to encourage my grandchildren to have a respect for living things. To not just randomly go off killing things such as insects because they look strange, scarry or hideous to we humans.

When I see the commercial for the Humane Society For Animals, and they show all the animals who've been abused. In thier desperate and frightened condition, I cannot watch without crying, like clockwork, every single time. We are here to be stewards of this planet and all that is on it. Stewardship demands the proper care and upkeep of all that God has given us. Even in this imperfect state that it's in. Ourselves included.

It tears my soul when I see those here in Philadelphia who have lately, been hosting dog fighting for fun and sport. Anyone participating in this sort of terrorism needs to be locked up. Mandatory 5 years in prison, no parole, no time off with good behavior. We humans are the creatures on the planet who make a mess of all that we have been given, the animals and others basically have to yield to our destructive vices and desires. We humans will truly get our just desserts in the end. Forgive me for rambling but this is something too close to my heart.

What amaxes me still is the understanding that those preaching from "Christendom" have. They are very knowledgeable in scripture in many areas. Their teaching on going to heaven I don't ascribe to, but as far as their being "Scripturally Ignorant", as I've heard it said in many JW circles is really not true at all. They've helped me to see things scripturally that JW never have.

Sad. How does anyone in today's world even have the chance to make a life for themselves with out at the very least, going to a technical or trade school of some kind. The unskilled and uneducated haven't got a way out for caring for themselves or a family. I'm a little miffed when I'm reminded of these things. I thought seeking out higer education was wrong as far back as the late 70's. Knowing the world would never last that long. Then the 8o's.....90's....whoa, where did the time....

who can prove that witnesses are specifically told not to post on websites about them?.
