When, if ever, did you start caring about POLITICS?
by Open mind ini've said a few times on here that i'm 99% mentally free of jwism, or something similar.
but i think i may need to back that number down just a bit.. i now believe that this world is all we've got and that,collectively, it matters what we as a species do on this orb if we want to continue to spread our dna indefinitely.
(some would argue that human extinction would be a good thing, but i'm not in that camp.

Being global citizens, it behooved me to pay strict attention to the political winds being driven. We are all affected, in one way or another by the actions, and in many cases, non actions of our fellow citizens. Allowing your voice to be squelched because of religious bigotry can in the end cancel out an awful lot of good.
"Oh if I'd have just cast my vote for__________, I may've been able to stem the tide of whatever fool hardy bunch of wanna' be helpers of." Now we're left with this bunch to run the country. I don't think god would have us be un-involved, as he would, un-informed. Stupid people, or those who vote without a reasonably clear understanding of all that's at stake are even more dangerous then those who would do us harm, once in office. It's delicate balancing pole that must be danced. But dance, you must!!!

by karter inwe had a hard core bunch of elder drunks all 5 of them could drink like there was know tomorrow my father who was never a jw and liked a drink had nothing on these guys at jw weddings ect they would ask my dad to be barman because he was a big guy know one would argue with he would refuse to serve some elders because they had to much

While employed as an aide in a mental health group home, I was to bring one of the residents to the ER of the hospital. They were going thru some difficult times, and required overnight observation. There was a sister at the desk who needed to give instructions as to how to reach the ER as it had been recently renovated.
She would have preferred to give me the directions to entryway into Hell, rather than the proper instructions to the ER. It was blatant that she despised having to even talk to me. It wasn't like I was trying to be overtly-friendly, I was just another human who required assistance. It was obvious that she was unwilling to seperate the issues of the Kingdom Hall from either of our employments. You are filth regardless of the fact that you are another human being, in need.

I just Quit Smoking
by pratt1 inhey everybody, i just hit the 3 week mark of being a non smoker.. .
i quit cold turkey after getting the flu and not smoking for 6 days.. .
i just continued not to smoke and so far so good.. .

Could never muster the courage to go Cold Turkey. I need my props behind me. Nicotine Patches have worked every time, though. In all my days of backsliding, they've been a remarkable saving grace. Smoke free since September 1st, 2007. Though every once in a while, I miss having a Newport on my lips. Good Luck. Ciao.

Cannabis Free~
by Sparkplug inyesterday i bought a pack of smokes called cannabis free.
i thought that maybe if it was good, as in something unique i could save a pack for crumples when she gets here.
so i lit one up in the car and proceeded to smoke it.

As of September 1st of 2007, I no longer smoke, but if the ingredients in those chuggers are enough to calm you down, I'd like to try, just one. Just one one more thing, where's the nicotine?

No one comes to the Father but through Me
by JH incan anyone explain to me what "no one comes to the father but through me" means ?.
i told my mom, who is getting baptized tomorrow in the baptist faith, that we have to pray to the father, not jesus like they do.
she told me that they pray to jesus because jesus said, "no one comes to the father but through me", so they pray to jesus directly, and then he relays the prayer to the father.

Thats quite a revelation there, JH. I wonder now, whether words may've been removed to support that point of JW Theology? There are even entire verses from the scriptures that have been deleted or removed.
