I would sorely miss the Internet. Business wise (both personal and work related) it has made life very time efficient.

how bad would you be or feel if you suddenly lost your internet connection?

I believe that eating apples helps to prevent the need for blood transfusions. After all, an apple a day keeps the doctor away!

I stay in because it helps me to keep my mind on the only hope for mankind, which is undoubtedly God’s kingdom. This isn’t to say that I’m not well aware of the WTS’ failings and revisionist history. I just don’t believe the other religions are superior.

Exercise and health are things I’ve been interested in and pursuing for over 30 years. On the dietary front I abstain from alcohol eat mostly fish and chicken with plenty of fruit, veggies, nuts, seeds and whole grain cereal. On the exercise front I work out seven days a week alternating an elliptical workout of 70 minutes with an aerobic rider workout of about the same length (for full body toning). I add three days of light weights (20 minutes each time) and do sit-ups and reverse crunches seven days a week. In addition to the foregoing I bicycle two or three days a week (2 1/12 hours or so each time) for a total distance of 300-400 miles per month. I consider myself to be in good shape, especially for my age.

Pallbearers, Are JW's allowed to be pallbearers
by skin ini once heard that we were not allowed to be pallbearers, but i can't find anything in the wt.
any idea's?

I was a pallbearer at a JW funeral. When my father-in-law died (a Baptist Deacon) two of my Son-in-laws were pallbearers at the funeral, which was in a Baptist church. Both son-in laws are JWs and there was no fallout from their actions. In fact one of these son-in-laws is now a self-righteous elder.

"Why Won't God Heal Amputees?"
by scout575 in"according to believers, god is answering millions of their prayers every day.
prayer seems to be especially powerful in the medical arena - god eliminates cancers, kills viruses, reverses the efffects of poisons, heals internal organs, repairs injuries etc.".
the above quote is taken from an ex-christian website.

In talking to some born again Christians recently, they told me how they had personally witnessed miraculous cures take place right in front of them.
P.J. Barnum said it best, "there's a sucker born every minute."

The U.S. now has over 1,000,000 average publishers - Why?
by truthseeker instrange increase in u.s. publishers
over the last few months there has been an unusual increase in publishers in the united states, but baptisms have been falling.
when baptism rates are compared to the 2004/05 service year, only 4 out of the six months shown are higher than 2005/06 service year.

MinisterAmos touched upon a possibility, the increase in the Hispanic JWs. Consider how many new JWs in the USA are immigrants from Mexico. Over 7,000 per day are emigrating from Mexico, legal or otherwise. Many of these would be JWs. Wonder if other religions also have increased Hispanic head count?

The GB members represent the FDS Class. When new GB members are chosen it is through a ballot cast by all members of the FDS Class. Emails are sent to all of the FDS Class and all can either vote or send their proxies back to one of the two warring factions of the GB.
A little known fact that is not directly related to the topic is that no WT article can make it to the magazine unless it is approved by a majority vote of the FDS Class. The Society started doing things this way so that they could not be falsely accused of being untruthful when saying that the articles were food in season from the FDS.

The Purpose and Meaning of Life
by streets76 in.
the purpose of life: is to procreate.. the meaining of life: is up to each of us to define for ourselves, individually.. i've just turned 48. i have not procreated.
i am struggling to define the meaning of or in my life.. is it just me?

I’m a bit older than you and I have procreated, three daughters and six grand children. The meaning of life must be to live it in harmony with God’s grand purpose for the earth and mankind. Right now this very possibly means pointing people to God’s kingdom as the only hope for mankind. When I see what is going on in the world, it is obvious to me that something bad is coming down:
1.) War (even threat of nuclear war)
2.) Energy crisis with oil production peaked and soon to go into major decline and demand only rising.
3.) Every time you turn around some lucky teenage boy is being seduced by a beautiful school teacher (oops maybe this doesn’t belong on the list)
Yes, I believe we (those of us who believe the Bible) should point others to a hope for the future. There are other things though to do. God wants us to enjoy life and we should do our best to do so and not feel guilty in the process.

One of the long term effects of growing up a JW...
by Pwned infor me anyways.. i still have nightmares about demon attacks.
that was the one belief that really had a grip on me growing up.
i was terrified of demons and even thought i was being attacked one night for bringing home a toy with a pagan symbol (ying-yang) on it.

Before I became a JW I had dreams about burning in Hell. Since becoming a JW I mostly dream about good lookin' women.
