I keep hearing how everyone posts and says that no one in the congregation noticed or cared about them..I have the opposite problem. I can't get sick of miss anything and they are all swarming around me "making sure I'm okay" telling me "how much they missed me" and some of them quite sincere about it. I just wish they would all leave me the hell alone. Could it be that with the dubs it's either one extreme or another? I'm sure they'll be all over me again tonight since I was sick once again.

Throwing out Old Watchtowers
by Okram inwhen you were a jw,.
did u feel guilty about throwing out old copies of the watchtower even if you had the yearly bound volumes?
my mom won't do it.
-
Mysterious
I know someone who wouldn't part with the bound volumes ever after getting the CD, their whole reason for getting the CD was so they could cut down on the number of bound volumes they kept..

After Disassociation or Disfellowshipping, can u still pray or read bible?
by NaruNaruChan in...because i can't, not after what they said to me.
i've been noticing more an more that i'm more athiest than anything else because i don't have a gret attachment to god or spirituality.
ive mentally grouped it as a pseudoscience.

Whenever I hear a scripture quoted I think of what they said about it first before I think of anything else. It distorts things sadly. I can't say as I'm much interested in reading the bible anymore, but that's my choice not because of leaving the organization. I guess you can say I still pray, though certainly not in the manner the witnesses teach.

Big Tex, I should have added that homesexual tendencies will not be a problem in the new system, just like many problems people face today, according to them.
Please show me from the Bible where it says the God will cure homosexual tendencies in paradise. Or show me where homosexual tendencies were part of the curse on the human race after adam and eve were thrown out of eden. Or show me that the bible even mentions homosexual tendencies at all. You can't. Because "homosexual tendencies" is a WT invention, not a biblical teaching. The witnesses are quick to say that they do not condemn any gays who would join them and remain celibate, but the reality is quite the contrary. I have been in car groups where the topic of conversation was how disgusting "those people" were. Witnesses do not follow modern science for the most part but hold that being gay is a choice. Since it's a choice they feel it's completely within their right to condemn people for it. From the platform I have heard that "someone is not born gay the same way as a bank robber is not born gay", that "saying they can't help it is the same as when a pedophile says he can't help it", and that "AIDS is the 'due recompense' homosexuals receive for their 'error'". All this was taught direcly to the congregation. While my school friends were all positive and supportive of me when I came out the witnesses in contrast are the most homophobic bunch I have seen in a long time. You are better off without them. All they will do is try to impose their guilt, fear and manipulation on you.

Yes the Christian faith does condemn certain practices, like adultery, fornication, homosexuality, theft, drunkenness. So what!
You oversimplify the issue by referring to the "Christian faith" there are many Christian denominations with very differing views. Case in point, homosexuality. Some churches are openly accepting gay ministers, bishops, members, etc. Some (do a search for Fred Phelps) are violently and hatefully opposed.
If you want to practice these things then DON'T BECOME A CHRISTIAN. It's that simple.
If you play a sport and that sport has rules pf play and you keep breaking them, don't expect to be picked for the team.
Yet Christians for the most part believe they are the one true religion. (Perhaps there are some that don't, I'm generalizing). They profess to believe in a God of love and yet it would appear God created a percentage of the population incapable of having the same right to the Christian faith AND having a loving, meaningful relationship that he extended to everyone else. Is that fair, loving or just? I think not.
Speaking to a Pakistani Moslem, work colleague I asked about the Islamic view on homosexuals. According to him any Moslem who was homosexual would not be allowed to associate with other Moslems or attend the mosque. He would be thrown out of the family home. In parts of the Moslem world he could even be put to death, by stoning.
And there are places where a woman could be punished for not wearing a veil, not walking behind her husband, or showing an ankle in public. Does this really justify EVERYONE following these practices?
Yet I do not see any great protest against Moslems in Britain or the USA against moslems on this teaching. But if a Christian group does the same thing, all hell breaks lose. They get accused of being intolerant etc.
There are far more Christians in Britain and the USA than there are Muslims. That makes it a much more visible issue.
I sometimes find that those who reject the Christian faith, a bit hypocritical. It seems to have become the fashion to condemn Christianity, because its an easy target, Christians don't fight back. Go to a Moslem country and start condemning Islam and see how far you get.
I don't "condemn" Christianity, I condemn aspects of it I find hypocritical. I do not accept it as my faith but I respect the right of others to believe it if they want. However I do not think religion should ever be used as a tool of discrimination. (again google Fred Phelps) I hold that there is not one true religion, there is something out there for everyone and no one should force their religion on other people telling them it's the only way to believe. Aww border collies are such cute pups. I think they tested one of the highest in intellegence, it was this practical test that involved things like if the dog would use it's paw to get something out from under a board, or if it would think to back up if you put a blanket over it's head and shoulders. It was amazing how easy the tasks were for some breeds and not others.

What Might've Kept You Still In The Organization?
by minimus insome people left the organization because of the united nations scam, 1975, the "generation" change, child abuse issues, not feeling the "love" of the brotherhood, etc.
in all honesty, is there something----that if it hadn't happened----would have kept you still in?
for example, if the child abuse issues were resolved properly, perhaps, some of those that left because of the mishandling, might still be at the meetings.

When things hit us PERSONALLY, it can prompt us to look critically at ourselves and the religion. If they don't, it is unusual to get out.
I think that hits the nail right on the head. There has to be an initial reason to start examining the house of cards more closely. It may come crashing down after that but something has to make you think first.

RATED R MOVIES
by sandy inthis past weekend a relative came over with these ultimate fighting dvds that he bought but he wouldn't sit down and watch city by the sea because it is rated r.
they can be so dense and hypocritical!
when i pointed out to him that his ultimate fighting dvds are un-rated but in my opinion it is far worse to watch people fighting for pure entertainment purposes than it is to see a rated r movie that teaches a great life lesson.

Movies are only rated R in the US. Other countires have different rating systems, so JWs in those countries are likely to have seen them and wonder why the difference in the US.
Yeah in Canada it's usually one rating lower. (We do have an R rating). For example the movie Executive Decision that I saw on tv was rated R in the United States, however when I rented it in the video store it was rated 14A.
