JWs and Evolution - Reasoning with the "facts" ?
by somebodylovesme ini am in the process of hunting down every "source" the jws use in their books to "discredit" evolution.
i think it could be fun.
for instance - robert jastrow, the first scientist cited in the reasoning book, wrote in the same book: "the fact of evolution is not in doubt" (the enchanted loom, pg.

Websites with pictures from Watchtower/Awake/brochures?
by somebodylovesme ini know a few have been posted from time to time, but it's a rather hard thing to search for!
does anyone have links to sites (or topics) that have pictures from the different dub magazines?
both "paradise" and the end of the world depictions would be quite useful.

JWs do NOT try to be separate from the world - AND a rant on "government"..
by somebodylovesme inif jws are trying to be separate from the world, then why do they do a lot of wordly things?
why do they watch tv?
isn't that "worldly" influence?

Circumcision and Gestational Surrogacy ... JWs' beliefs?
by somebodylovesme intwo quick questions to broaden my knowledge of witness doctrine, only for the sake of keeping up with what my in-laws believe.
either of these issues could, after all, come up someday ... (not that their beliefs will affect what we do, but it's nice to know from what direction the fights are coming.
1. circumcision -- clearly allowed, but is it required?

Lawsuits filed against the Watchtower -- is there a website of decisions?
by somebodylovesme inagain, i am here to draw from the infinite wisdom of this board.
i know there have been several lawsuits filed against the watchtower for several reasons (custody, shunning, blood transfusions, etc) ... i found minimal information on some of these cases, and the search feature on this board hasn't been treating me kindly.
i was wondering if anyone knew of a website that has further information about different types of lawsuits brought against the watchtower.

My online convo with Witnesses - how they explain it's okay to use the 'net
by somebodylovesme inokay, this is directly related to my earlier post with the guy's website.
there are a bunch of witnesses at xanga (an online journal community).
i replied to a guy's public entry (which was just a bunch of watchtower crapola, and here are the responses.

The relationship between religion, education, and political party - help!
by somebodylovesme ini am drawing from the collected wisdom of this board, which has never let me down before!
i'm doing some research for a school project and was wondering if anyone had any sources (academic, news, articles, anything "legit") discussing the relationship between a person's religion, education, and political party -- or any combination of those.
i do have the list ranking each religion's percentage of college-educated members, but i'm having a hard time finding anything linking these to political party.

How much do they charge for mags now? Or do they charge at all?
by somebodylovesme inthis is partially in reference to the post on what you said when you were at the door.
it's been a few years since my hubby's been out on service, so i'm wondering - do dubs still ask for a donation for the magazines?
we haven't had around, but i know a friend of mine said that some dubs slipped some under her apartment door a few weeks ago (while she was hiding inside, lol) and they never came back.

Did you know there's a "personals" website for Witnesses to meet people?
by somebodylovesme inhttp://www.jw-connect.com/index.php?page=index
just thought that was interesting... they also have their own "search" page: http://www.witnessesonline.com/ with lots of fun (but no exciting) links.
for a group of people who aren't supposed to use the internet too much, there are an awful lot of personal web sites!.
