How much do they charge for mags now? Or do they charge at all?

This is partially in reference to the post on what you said when you were at the door. It's been a few years since my hubby's been out on service, so I'm wondering - do dubs still ask for a donation for the magazines? We haven't had around, but I know a friend of mine said that some dubs slipped some under her apartment door a few weeks ago (while she was hiding inside, lol) and they never came back.

So are they free now? Are donations only asked of book studies?

... So much I've learned about dubs, and yet, so many simple things I don't know!

"Our work is supported by voluntary contributions. If you would like to make a donation towards the worldwide work of Jehovah's Witnesses I'd be happy to accept that." is what I believe is the current setup.

They used to ask for a "contribution to cover the cost of paper and ink". LOL

Now they ask for "donations". "Whatever you are led to give".

This came about over tax issues. The society filed as a friend of the court several years ago in a lawsuit filed against Jimmy Swaggart. It seems that religious literature should be taxed! So they changed to the donation scheme to avoid paying taxes on the sale of the literature.
