@Newyork44m- good catch! Part of me said 'oh no way' when i read your post, but there it is, in black and white, in all its stupidity. More rhan just intolorant, how in the world does such a leap in 'logic' happen?? Because there are people with bad traits god is going to destroy 99.99% of the human population...? According to the bible thete is NO ONE who does not sin, that is, no one who does not have bad traits. Do they think this through before they print it? if thats the best "evidance" they have its nothing short of a miracle they get any converts.

@zeb,
Yes, in my case that is true, HOWEVER i wouldnt suggest or presume that all women in the org are like that any more than I would suggest all men act domineering or like jerks. Its is a tendancy of some, org or no, to take advantage. Some simply use the org as their justification to do so...

Are Jehovah's Witnesses A Cult?
by What Now? ini came across a great quote.... the distinction between cult and religion lies squarely in how those leaving or those wanting to leave are treated.. hits the nail on the head for me!.

Indeed. And unfortunatly tht critical difference is only seen after you are already a witness

Bethel has more made apostates than any other source. It helped make me one. Just relax And let the bethel magic work :)

Jw's attitudes toward the act of baptism
by _Morpheus ini attended (meaning was emotionally blackmailed) a jw baptisum ceremony today.
i was awestruck at the "event" status given this.
to be sure it wasnt the first time i witnessed it but for whatever reason it really stood out to me what a spectical they have turned this into.

Perhaps im reading to much into it or perhaps im not expressing myself well... It just seems that if baptisum is the outward symbol of dedication to god then why is it is seemingly worshipped as an act by dubbies...? Dubbies also note that you are not 'once saved always saved'. If thats true then the act if baptsium isnt worth glorifying in the way it is... As i said, maybe im over reaching or maybe im not expressing myself well...

Greek Mythology influence on New Testament
by Magnum ina few days ago, i was in a book store, and i picked up a book providing a brief overview of classical mythology.
as i examined the opening pages, i read about tartaurus (place of punishment) and hades (god of the underworld).. it seems so odd that tartarus and hades would be mentioned in the new testament, and yet they were part of greek mythology which predated the new testament.
why would bible writers have used such terms?

If god cannot communicate clearly, dispite our own preconceived ideas, hes not much of god.
