The worse thing I ever saw done on a message board, this is bad!

once, i attended another message board for awhile, a few years ago.

i did not post a lot, as that boards topic did not interest me much and i could just read and enjoy the conversation without interaction.

while there, i witnessed what can only be described as, "the worse thing i have ever seen on a message board.".

this is of course a negative thing, but there is also something positive here..

Before they knew it, they had messages e-mailed to them, flowers sent, and even calls to the house. As people were so touched, that they wanted to do something.

what I see, although a shame that they were duped, is the fact that total strangers can care. Can take the time reach out to help someone. I see it every day right here. Someone will have a bad day and put in a post and you will see several posts from friends saying "You have a PM" or "I am going to call you". We've even had on the board friends who have traveled long distances to help another friend out. If you ask me, that is really awesome.

Proof of adultery to get scriptural freedom

i am in a situation where my ex-wife left me.

i had survellaince done on her place by two members of my family.

this was done over a several month time frame.

it is stupid if they think sex can only happen over the night hours.. I can't tell you how many times I had proof of my first husbands adultry but they never accepted it. I even had a tape recording accidently taped by him on survelance with his lover that came into the office and the whole office staff where he worked heard it... him talking about being in her bed when her husband was home.. etc etc etc.. nope.. they wanted more..

It sure feel wonderful to be free of the RULES

Summer convention "warnings"

anyone remember those kingdom ministry parts we had to attend a month before the summer convention about not saving seats and not eating during the program.

even our behaivor in the hotel pool was admonished!

and don't walk around the halls during the program, hold that boo-boo till intermission holmes!

actually I do remember years ago before they did the guilt trip about saving seats and many ones who had to get there early for work would save rows and rows of seats for friends..

so I was kind of glad when they said not to save seats, that way if I got there early I could have a chance at a decent seat..

they also used to include in the part about not staying at hotels not on the list..

Trusting ourselves vs trusting the org

in my discussion with estee yesterday the subject of how the wts edits their own literature came up.

it wasn't until after i left that i began to realize the extent of these edits or that they even occurred.. an example i gave is how i could clearly remember having read something in a magazine.

i could recall clearly where it even appeared on the page even if i could not recall what issue it was in.

It was a revelation to me that the WTS does change information to a great extent without telling its members. I didn't learn this until after I left it. I did understand, as Lady Lee pointed out, that they would change minor things but when I realized that they were really attempting to change information when they made doctrinal changes. That upset me. It helped me realize I had made the right choice in leaving, even though it was after my choice, did I learn this.

20,000 Die While "GOD" Watches as he sips Iced Tea

today i had an interesting conversation, not with a christian believer but a muslim believer, .

he was trying to recruit me into the faith--so i thought i would pose the question to him about why his god watches as 20,000 believers (muslims) women, children, etc lost thier lives-.

his explanation i thought was straight out of a christian handbook on.

My boyfriend was converted to Muslim, although he has admitted to me he pretty much has lost faith in any organized religion. He has never once called God Allah. I wish I knew answers to why anyone dies but right now everything seems pretty delusional for valid answers. That is the one thing about quiting the WTS. I used to think there was a reason for everything and now I have no answers.

Thanks Minimus..I appreciate your reply. To be honest I really thought of leaving after that thread. You are right I didn't know that pms had gone back and forth. The thing is the accusations were public. And the public didn't know. I appreciate your honesty. And I do really appreciate having you on the board.. and I too do not like unreal people. believe me I have dealt with plenty in my life.. I do see that side of it too..

the fact that we can work things out here helps me know this is a good place to be.. thanks for this thread.. I feel better.

for the new comers I will reply again why I came here. I came because I had left the JW activities and appreciated an outlet to come to where people understood where I was coming from. I did not know how much more I would get from this place, i.e., real eye opening as to what the WTS is all about and how my choice was not only something I had to do, but something wise to do as well...

I stay because I do enjoy being here. The only time I think about stopping is when people jump down someone's throat before they know what is going on. Sometimes we do have 'imposters' who are not 'real' who come here.. and so I understand suspicion. I have plenty of it myself. But what does upset me is when several come in and jump on someone and accusing them of not being real and later it is justitified they were wrong and they were real.. but few have the balls to come in here and be big about it and apologize when wrong.. moments like that make me wonder if it is worth it..

Chocolate Martini's Anyone?

ok....let's relax and enjoy life a little.

my huband's family were in for a few days this week.

seems like his daughter and son in law love chocolate martini's.... they mixed me one then i mixed a few....i was quite impressed with this new drink.

Have you watched "Pirates of the Carribean" yet?

awesome movie...i am not that much of a johnny depp fan but he was absolutely brilliant in this...but his wonderful acting is not required to carry the whole movie.

it is extremely entertaining, and the special effects are excellent.. i was just wondering if anyone else had a chance to see it?

i hardly go to the theater any more (too many kids!!!

Picked up the dvd, didn't see it in the theater.. I thought it was pretty good.
