24things that make you go AGGGGGGGGGH!!!!!!!!!!
by lurk inkingdom melodies did it for me everytime.. i tired so hard not to have uncharitable thoughts about the ppl who wrote the tunes and words to the kingdom melodies.
there were about 2 that i could stomach.. the rest were so totally uninspiring and mechanical.. .i can say that apart from maybe 2 i didnt get any up lifting joy from them.. elders complained that ppl wern't learning the tunes and singing properly.they got realy irritated over it .but i really really hate the dam songs .
eveyone sounded totally joyless

One day the straw that broke the camels back, the rule that was one too many, the thought of dealing with accusations that were not even founded, when I realized I would have to face committee meetings because of being set up. Because of their lack of love when asking for help only months earlier, I knew they would believe and judge me and I realized for the first time how much I really had allowed them to control my life. And I decided I wasn't going to give anyone that power any more. So I decided never to go back. Have not doubted that decision for a second and every day find more reasons to know I made the right choice and the light of disollutionment/brainwashing/control, etc only gets brighter and more obvious every day.

Remember how when we were JWs and you heard a holiday song in a store, you found yourself humming it later and thought OH MY I have to get something else in my mind?? Well now it is the opposite.. Now you put the idea of thinking about the '
kingdom" songs and now you have those in our heads!!Help us get them out!

Ethics and etiquet

i need to know if it is ok to devulge an e-mail message from someone and put it on the forum.
i am not sure at what point it becomes a betrayal of trust.

I have always made it a rule out of courtesy not to give out someones phone number or email address without permission. An exception regarding an email might be if they publicly already have it on a website for any public to see. However if the only reason you have it, is because that person wrote you, you should ask permission before sharing.

Did I get the wrong Christmas Ornaments?
by Elsewhere ini have a small tree so i got a package of small ornaments that are about 2 inches in diameter.
when i bought them i did not notice that the tops do not have hooks like i expected, instead they have very small loops.
these loops are too small to slide on to the branches of the tree, so am i supposed to use little twist-ties or something?

Should jws take days off work?

i understand from living history that the tradition of having a day off on christmas day has pagan origins.. should jws there4 take days off on xmas day etc and work on those days.

This kind of thinking drives me nuts!!

"our faith will be evident from the conviction with which we tell others about this magnificent gift from god.".
it seems to me that a better thought would be, "our faith will be evident from the way we live our life and the way we treat our fellow man.".

you are right, it is dependant on your preaching in their eyes. Sounds unbalanced to me.
I remember SimpleSally said to me once, the scriptures says you received freely, give freely, so then why do they make such a big deal out of counting time? Why couldn't people just give what they were able and make 'counting' such a big deal. But as this statement above shows, our faith according to the WTS is measured by service time.

oh man, here I thought getting a tree and decorating it was going to be easy. I feel so virginal.
There's nothing more pathetic than watching an ex-jehovahs Witness, trying to act like a worldly heathen bastard , and decorating their Ba'al and not having a clue on how to do it.
Now I really feel like I am going to stand out like a sore thumb..
so where do we get a book??
