  " if the watchtower said it, and the men on the platform preached it, then it must have been true.

  so it was very hard to accept as an adult, that they were wrong.

  my biggest complaint is not that I lost all those years of things I missed out on.. yes, by allowing myself (although blinded) to be in it from birth I accept some responsibility in that but the fact that you just can't say OK, I don't want to be a JW any more and be done with it. You have to be treated by others as if you are deserving of punishment forever and ever (unless you return to the fold). There by THEIR actions NOT YOURS continue to impact your life.

  I also blame the WTS for taking a mother away from my sister at age 14 and not allowing her in her life for all these years.

  Some things I'd like to do in life....

  teach my students (future) how to think.. live somewhere other than chicago for at least a year.

  learn how to cook kick-ass healthy meals.

  travel asia.. own a horse.. write a book, even if it never gets published.. have sex in outer space (okay, i'll settle for the beach).

  I would like to make up for all the things I missed out on by being a JW for 40 some years. Alas, not possible. So, what I would like to do, is find a way to mend a relationship with my father. One damaged because I was a JW and he hates the witnesses.

  Although I don't personally try to sue anyone, in my heart I do blame the WTS for the direction my life has taken. For someone to take the stand and think they are faultless for deceipt or ruining/damaging lives, is one who did not lose half or more of their life to the JWs. Someone who is not in a situation where they are not allowed to have a normal healthy relationship with family members they love. Someone who is not in a difficult work situation because a JW co worker is unallowed to be 'social' or friendly with because you "left the faith". I can burn my mouth at Mcdonalds on coffee, but walk back in the next day and they still serve me. But be a witness and then decided you don't believe any more. Members are not allowed to talk to you. Explain that one to your boss when you decide to leave and suddenly know the work envirmonment is going to become cold and hostile, only because a JW still there must now shun you. For wrong doing? No. For you making the choice to not believe in this organization you will be punished. You can't just quit and live a normal life. You can't just quit and have JW neighbors treat you decent. Smile as you pass. No, suddenly you are the enemy. You have the plague. Cross the street rather than walk by in close contact. Why? Because you did something to them? No. Because this religion dictates they can no longer associate with you.
  
  
  So before thinking there is no one to be blamed, try having your life dysfunctional because of how this WTS dictates people to treat you, even though you live a good decent life.

  and on any given meeting night in any town where you could find an apple bees" you can find jehovah's witness scarfing down the sampler plate.

  1995 "generation change", what were your early thoughts and what was said ?

  i had been long gone by 1995, had i still been in , this would of definitely sent me packing, when the magazines came out in i believe nov 1995, what was your first or early reactions.

  what was said from the platform and by the watchtower about this ?.

  could someone please post the articles ??????

  I didn't really pay that much attention. I remember my mom being all excited and pointing out the article to me as if we had been given this new gift and light. I didn't get the excitement. I guess prophecy has never been my cup of tea. I was just a blind person being lead. Seems so stupid now.

  "Annoited Class meetings", do they exist ??? Why not ???

  you know, think about the last 30 years, annoited class of anywhere from 8,000 - 10,000, is there ever a meeting when they all get together, and discuss what jehovah has told them.

  if these are the last days, why wouldn't they all be together at least once a year, can they even communicate with each other if they are form different countries.

  i have heard of governing body meetings, special meetings, special arrangement elders meetings, assembly days for a select few etc.. but has there ever been a meeting for all the so called annoited to get together in one place, ever ????

  what used to always confuse me was that there were articles saying that by a certain year the announted class was picked and filled, and yet all the time we heard about people saying they felt now 'chosen' after that date. I never could understand that.

  But I guess now that I have lost faith in JW doctrine, and this wasn't the 'only' way used by God, then who is to say any of them are annointed?

  The Circuit Overseer Says 'Just Do More'.........

  my mother told me that last night's meeting was about how we all simply have to do more.

  if we are asked to work on a saturday, we should know that saturday morning belongs to jehovah and that the automatic answer simply is "no, that time is set aside for jehovah.

  " he said our congregation is down to 60 something publishers and we simply just can't afford to lose anymore..... he gave an example of a boy and his dad that were out hunting.

  Hunting was ok if you did it for food.

  The one thing I always felt when the CO came, was a reminder that I wasn't a very good witness and I needed to be doing more. No matter how much you are doing, MORE is needed. It was a setup to always feel like failure.

  Witnesses and laziness

  is it just me, or does the dub lifestyle encourage astounding degrees of laziness?

  we're expected to sit quietly at the meetings and be spoon feed repititious information without thinking for ourselves.

  dubs are discouraged from making any decisions without the counsel or approval of the society.

  I have to admit that I am bitter about a lot of things because of being raised a JW. I dont happen to think, however, that anyone who is lazy that is a JW has the 'faith' to blame. I guess I don't consider study a sign of laziness either. Actually it takes exercise for some to keep up that schedule. I never managed to succeed in a good study program. Unless I am reading a vividly moving story, reading usually puts me to sleep. It is never something that comes easy to me. And honestly an active JW is usually very busy if he is a 'good one'. I've also known a lot of hard working JWs.

  I think if any of us are lazy, (and I sure have my moments so I am pointing the finger at me too), we have ourselves to blame.

  Now if we want to blame the religion for not letting us do certain activities, so we arent in the habit to do them, that I can agree with.

  we have all fantasized about never having been jw's, how would your life of been different (better or worse) if your family(parents) would of never joined the jw's.. hypothetical question i know.

  but fun to think about it.. for me, i might of actually had a family, instead of being ignored and critized for not going to meetings.. for my family, it goes back to my grandmother (who is now 100), who started the crap line going.

  Well I would have had the experience of dating in high school, going to the prom, pep fests, etc etc..
  
  I would have gone to the senior party EVERYONE went to after graduation...
  
  I sure wouldn't have married the a## er I mean jerk I married..
  
  I would have gone to college and probably have been either a lawyer or a lobbyist.
