Children...No,but I did shun my DF'ed Mother.You have to be really brain dead to shun any part of your family based on the dictates of a few senile old men in Brooklyn. The mind control they have over people is amazing and you only really can see it after you are out. I have been out almost 25 years now and it still upsets me what I did.

how can a loving parent totally cut off their child?
i don't have any children as of now but i would totally kill me to treat my own flesh and blood as if they did not exist and i just don't know what does a parent tell themselves to justify the shunning?

Inconsistencies vs false teachings

i've been thinking and it is really the inconsistencies that kept mounting up in the things i read in watchtower literature and in watching the behavior of my fellow witnesses that pushed me out, rather than specifically finding out that something was false.. examples:.
millionaire elders who sent their kids to college.. only being destroyed without chance of a resurrection if you were alive when armageddon came.. 3000 people becoming annointed in 1 day in the apostles time and 2000 years later the 144,000 were still not full.. these are just a few but they mount up fast.

I still kind of think the other way. What really pi$$ed me off was changes in core doctrine. One of the major ones was the generation doctrine. They yap..yap..yapped for years about this and had entire magazines to support this belief but when they dumped it it only took a few paragraphs. My Father...staunch dub lost heart after this change and died a year later. I think he was finally starting to see the real truth.
Another false teaching that really PMO are the changes to the DF'ing rules from 1974 to 1982.In both cases they quoted scripture to back them up and it was and still is BS.
The changing "opinions" on blood and organ transplants also irk me.They are costing people their lifes but the GB does not give a sh*t.
I hope in the end EVERYONE will see the light about this religion and get out no matter what triggers them to do it.

we had grades, 1 though 8, and high school 9 though 12. .
at any rate, we were encouraged to shop around and date several people, just like the rest of society.

I remember back in the late 60's or early 70's when they changed the rules. I thought that was a disaster.
They really started to overdose on Stupid pills along about then.They really urged the no dating thing unless you had marriage in mind. You were supposed to stay in small groups and never pair off. I once tried to ask a girl out ...A FIRST DATE. She turned me down because as she explained it...she was not ready to get married. PRESSURE...
I also remember an article where they advised against..HOLDING HANDS because before you knew it that could lead to fornication.We accepted all this council as coming directly from god and most of us never thought to question it.

Goodbye Old Friend.......
by ScoobySnax inabsolutely gutted tonight......got in from work and my sisters dog "lady" had just passed away.
i missed her literally by 5 minutes.
she hadn't been ill and had been out for a walk this morning as usual, when my sister came in from work she was just laid in her basket, but was barely alive, fixed eyes and very shallow breathing, i think she must have had a stroke at some point this afternoon.
