Karaoke semi-finals tonight!!

hopefully i don't get severely outdone by women singing "i'll always love you".

Before and after meetings: What was the conversational quality like?
by truthseeker ini have been in a number of different congregations over the years, and i have to say that the level of conversation i had with my fellow believers, with a few exceptions, was rather poor.. here are some 'opening' comments.. 1) nice to see you at the meeting.
- i never understood this.
can you imagine going to a company meeting and saying to your fellow worker, 'nice to see you at the meeting'?.

I never really payed any attention... just sat there being the kid I was, drawing and stuff making my hands little puppets. Oh yeah and scream at the top of my lungs in the middle of an elders speach!

Should "Merry Christmas" Be Replaced With "Happy Holidays"?
by Kenneson init seems that some think that "happy holidays" is more politically correct than "merry christmas.
" they take offense to the word christ in christmas and want to replace it.
personally, i think we should keep the words.

I think merry christmas is better than happy holidays because happy holidays can mean any holiday of the year and Merry christmas directs it to mean christmas(not sure if that makes sense... didn't in my mind kinda confused me..lol) Yeah, I think we should keep Merry Christmas!

worldy girl living with inactive JW, confronts his father about religion
by Mulan inmy jw friend has a son who is living with a very nice young woman, who has two little girls 3 and 5. my friend has no problem with this, because she is like all of us, but is playing the jw game to keep her family.
(large extended one) she has become very close to the young woman and her children.
the girlfriend wants to celebrate christmas.

My father doesnt mind it, he allows them to decorate and have a tree up and he turns on the lights and stuff himself, and tells them to turn it on he just doesnt buy presents and he waits in his room until they are done opening their presents, and when they are done he comes out and plays with their toys...lol!

My story
by ChimChim ini was never baptised because i was to young, i was in it until i was 5 years old.
but it ruined my life and still is because my dad, nanny, grandfather, my step nanny, my aunt and uncle...all on my dads side of the family are still in it, so i get lectured alot about things that have to do with the "truth" or i hear him talking about and all i think it, "what a bunch of garbage.
he never really yells at me, i don't think he can because he barely ever see's me, i try to avoid going there as much as possible.

Although you state that you weren't the direct victim of physical violence, your internal system of feelings and beliefs get shattered as you witness such events. The trauma involved should not be minimized.
That's true. I guess even though people never get hit by their parents but witness it will still grow up to hit and abuse their children, but me, im gonna prevent that as much as humanly possible.

Bad Santa
by Valis ingreat movie...and not exactly what you expect...one of my fave scenes is where he's getting naughty w/this girl...she kept saying "f me santa" over and over again...*lol* definitely not a movie to take the kids to, plent of naught words and scenes, but real good fun in any case.
