Deplorable Website Promotion

my siblings mother in law died recently, and there was a condolence posted with the borg website.

i googled the name of the poster, and found the same condolence on 100s of funeral home websites!!!

many of these sites dont have mods or a way to report a website promotion.

The JWs have been 'infiltrating' hospitals for many years. The protoype for the HLCs were trialed in Canada starting back around 1970.

Visiting groups for JWs in hospitals were in place long before that. This is not something new.

I am not alarmed by the visiting groups established to offer support for JW patients. I see nothing untoward about it.

However, what does alarm me is the number of JWs who are working in hospitals trying to influence the medical community on blood management.

Here is a JW who has taken their affiliation with the Watchtower and transformed the blood doctrine into an opportunity to influence the medical care of the population at large.

Judge Twomlow told Richards he had decided ‘with some hesitation’ not to send her to jail.

Cultural gender bias appears to be difficult to overcome. If 'she' was a 'he' the Judge would likely not have hesitated to send a male perpetrator to jail.

It is still the prevailing attitude of male judges (and the public) that the boy was 'lucky to have scored' rather than having had the course of his life changed.

or, am i looking at an invitation to the janitor world's jesus celebrations?.

So...the TM is just an attempt to appear legitimate and carries no weight at all except for appearance.

a while back, there was some controversy over whether or not jw .org qualified for registered trademark status.. yesterday, i was given one of the 2015 memorial invitations and there is a small tm next to the jw logo.. did the wts get the logo approved for trademark?.

or, am i looking at an invitation to the janitor world's jesus celebrations?.

truthseeker: Rod Jung gave an update on Canada's work (12,000+ reg pioneers, 50,000+ bible studies, 180,000+ attended last year's memorial, they are focusing a lot on translating to First Nations languages)

Canada appears to have a pretty low saturation level compared to the US, and especially compared to Mexico.

It must be Mexico that brings the saturation number up to 1 per 250 for the 'Americas' reported by jwfacts, because, if you use the stats from jwfacts, the memorial attendance of 180,000 translates to 2.6 times the number of publishers which leaves approx. 69,000 publishers for Canada.

That means that Canada has a saturation level of about 1 per 500, half of what jwfacts says the 'americas' has. I am assuming that jwfacts has included Canada in the Americas...unless Canada is part of the Queen country's stats...

Regardless, 1 per 500 is quite a bit lower than the US figures, and much lower than Mexico.

The first nations people here have had enough, when the wbts are focusing on first nations languages it just goes to show how desperate they are. Most of the first nation people I know are focused on getting their kids educated and learning english. The last thing they need is a family destroying cult.

I agree wholeheartedly. I get very agitated when I consider what the WTS is doing by targeting the First Nations communities with their horrible translations of Watchtower crap. The illustrations in the literature are terrible - they have taken white people and colored them brown and call them First Nations. Not only that, nobody in the First Nations communities that I know can read Cree. It's a joke - the JWs leave Cree literature thinking they are 'helping the natives' and the natives cannot and do not read Cree.

Besides, Cree is only one of the languages spoken. We have Dakota, Lakota, Chippeweyan, Ojibaway, to name a few.

The WTS is incredibly insensitive to the Canadian First Nations people.

I personally checked out a couple of jw books from an inuit library. The books are now over due and not likely to return

I have close friends who are First Nations who live up north. The one family I know was actually having a Bible Study with two old white gals. I have them on my facebook account and I make sure that I post all the child abuse scandals so they can see them and pass the posts out to their community.

I also know of one JW woman who goes up to Cumberland House with both her Watchtower literature and her Avon business. She kills 2 birds with one stone.

Funny thing is though, the reserves don't get worked...I think the JWs are scared to send people out there. They should be scared.

It makes me angry that the WTS is targeting the First Nations in Canada. It is ignorant and damaging to the First Nations people.

i just shared the pbs newshour segment with her with no comment other than something along the lines of, "jw story on pbs.".

she is furious at the arrogance of these men.. thats what happens when you get a momma angry!.

Recent Birth Experience

i'm completely flabergasted at what happened with a couple in my old congregation recently.

they are still active.

the guy messages me that they had their baby and will be at a local hospital for the next couple days.

I have noticed over the years that birth stories are a lot like fishing stories with estimates of length of labor equating to size of fish.

The difference between 'birth stories' and 'fishing stories' is that a birth story has a real live woman experiencing the limits of pain and suffering for those hours she is in labor.

Fish stories don't involve women in pain and possibly herself and her baby dying.

Fish stories are men bragging about a sport.

Birth stories are real life and death situations.

I realize that I had said that I wouldn't be using him as a credible authority - and what I meant is that I wouldn't reference him in a research paper for psychology or anything scientific. Not that I have any plans of writing papers in those disciplines....

However, just because Bergman has had his credibility questioned regarding his scientific credentials, I think it is important to give him credibility as an exJW. He does have extensive knowledge of the WTS and its workings and he has revealed many valuable details in an interview he did with Jennifer Henderson concerning Hayden Covington.

I agree with Oubilette - it is truly ironic that the WTS is using Bergman as a credible 'scientific' source when Bergman himself accuses the Watchtower of dishonesty. Actually, it is more humorous than ironic.

An exJW 'apostate' being quoted in the Awake! magazine. And not only that, the exJW apostate is on record as accusing the Watchtower of dishonesty.

It is hilarious.

Millie, I can't pull out a link on that one, at least not right now - I have never researched it online. All I can speak from is my own experience.

At the time that I graduated with a 4 year undergraduate degree in Fine Arts from a Canadian university, a BFA (honors), I could have qualified for a Phd program at many universities in US with it and skipped what we call Graduate work in Canada - a Masters degree. That is, if I had wanted to earn a Phd in Art History and fast track my way into teaching art history.

The difference lies, I believe, not within the Canadian system of degree definitions, but rather within the US system. A university accreditation in Canada is easier to control, and there is less variation in degrees between universities, because we are really small compared to the States - in the US, it appears like there is a wide range of what can be called a university with wide variations in degree requirements.

There seems to be a lot of 'popcorn box' degrees available in the States. And it looks like the esteemed 'Dr.' Bergman has acquired one of those 'Dr.' degrees from a correspondence school that lost its licence.
