Biden running in 2024 🤣
by LoveUniHateExams ini've filed this under news and world events, although i could've posted it under entertainment, lol.
apparently, joe biden will be seeking re-election for another term in the white house.. this, despite a recent poll showing that 70% of people don't want him to run again.. biden just has to be the worst president i've seen.
his gaffes, over-relience on a prompter, and, more than any other president, his refusal to answer journalists' questions, all go to make him top of the list in terms of bad presidents.. it will certainly provide entertainment, if nothing else..

Republicans banning abortions and books would be good for America ? - it's not as bad as it seems.
Each individual state decides whether to have abortions or not. This means that women who want an abortion in, say, Texas, can travel to a state that does kill unborn babies.
Or the women can keep their legs together, and avoid the whole problem.

@Data-Dog
Yeah, the prospect of a Biden-Trump rematch isn't particularly appealing but you are right when you say that at least Trump is competent enough to run the country - senility having not yet set in, unlike with Creepy Joe.
The US voting public has had 4 years of the Dems running the country into the ground. Just look at trendy, Democrat-run cities with know-it-all, know-nothing mayors such as Portland, Chicago and San Francisco. Stealing, vandalism and shitting in the street are commonplace.
US citizens deserve better.
Whoever is the next president, I hope he sorts these and other problems out.

Charles the Third and the Two-Headed Beast
by Anony Mous ini was reading an article about the pomp and circumstance around the first coronation in nearly a century.. made me think of the revelation book (the red one, not the bible) and the picture of the two headed beast with a sword and if i have some time today i will see if i can’t find it and age it a bit, it seems the sword is a bit dull and the two heads are now both octogenarians with severe dementia, kind of funny to see that instead of “swift judgment” we’ve come to internal decay.. what do you canadians, english, scots, irish and australians think about your new leadership?.

What do I think about Charles becoming king? - meh.
I'm not really interested in all that pomp and ceremony, so I don't care much for the coronation.
But I recognise that the royal family sell the UK abroad, do some good in terms of schemes and patronages, and bring in lots and lots of tourists' money.
I think Charles has some pretty big shoes to fill, after the death of his mother.
I guess time will tell if he is a good king or not.

Yeah, that poll I referred to also has 54% (or was it 64%?) saying Trump shouldn't run as well.
I believe in meritocracy. How the hell can Biden and Trump be the two best candidates?

RIP Barry Humphries
by LoveUniHateExams incomedy legend barry humphries passed away yesterday aged 89. he was the genius behind dame edna everage and sir les patterson.. humphries was also an intellectual, with a huge personal library of first prints and rare editions.
he apparently dropped out of studying law because he found it 'boring', from what i remember reading about him.
instead, he created a number of comedy characters - as much for his own amusement as ours.. here's to a long life, well-lived 🥂.

The corrosive nature of CRT
by LoveUniHateExams indiane abbot has been temporarily suspended from the labour party whilst they investigate her behaviour.. what's she done?.
it was leaked that a first draft of a letter she was going to write had the claim that jews can't experience racism.. the influence of crt is obvious.
according to this warped worldview, there are two types of people, oppressors and oppressed.

@Phizzy
I don't know what point you're trying to prove but I just don't have the stomach to trawl through the statements of academics who support CRT, of whom there are many.
Suffice to say that the following claims have CRT as their basis:
White people can't be victims of racism because racism = racism plus power.
Jews can't experience racism.
White privilege is a tangible, important factor of daily life.
BTW one academic who supports CRT, Kahinde Andrews, believes that the British Empire was worse than the Nazis because the British Empire killed more people. This isn't intellectually honest. If I wanted to compare the two honestly, here's what I'd do:
1. Work out how many years the British Empire lasted.
2. Work out how many people it killed.
3. Work out the kill rate, i.e. how many people killed per year.
4. Do the same for Nazi Germany.
5. Make an honest comparison between the two.
I'm fairly sure the Nazis killed more people per year than the British Empire.
Of course, all the above is leaving out the good things the Empire brought non-British people - our rule of law, technology, science, literature, etc.

the observation that people with African ancestry are visually more easily identified in everyday life than Jews seems like a perfectly reasonable comment to me - well, it depends what kind of Jews we're talking about. Hasidic Jews are just as visible as African-Americans.
But, yes, Jews often look like Europeans, and often even have partial European ancestry and so 'blend in' better than others.
But, again, it's when she said that 'Jews can't experience racism, only prejudice like red-heads' is when the insanity kicks in.
Hitler killed millions of Jews because he believed them to be racially inferior - fact.
Here's a thought experiment: imagine that you are Jewish, and live in a Jewish enclave of Manchester or London. The Jewish cemetery has been wrecked by vandals - some head stones have been smashed and a swastika has been daubed on one of them. The local synagogue has to have bars on the windows and security. Maybe one or two of your relatives were killed in the holocaust. Corbyn was kicked out of Labour for saying the anti-Semitism issue was blown way out of proportion. And now Diane Abbot lets slip what she thinks about Jews and racism.
How would you feel?
