on may 20, 2020, boris johnson's private secretary sent out an e-mail to 100 staff asking them to enjoy the sunshine in the downing street garden, adding they could bring their own bottle.. at the time the uk was under a harsh covid lockdown - people could meet up with up to six members of their own household, and only with one person from another household, socially-distanced of course.
the prime minister attended this party for 25 minutes but his excuse yesterday at pmqs was that he thought it was a work event.
as excuses go, this one is right up there with 'the dog ate my homework', lol.. boris johnson must resign - if you force harsh rules on people but break those same rules yourself, it's surely game over.. his private secretary should go, too..
They show that they don't actually believe all the lockdowns are genuinely necessary. They do them because they like the power and control -
apr 20, 2020. novak djokovic sparks a backlash after publicly opposing the covid-19 vaccine.
he says: “personally, i am opposed to vaccination, and i wouldn’t want to be forced by someone to take a vaccine in order to be able to travel.”.
asked by sky news australia anchor danica de giorgio why djokovic was granted the visa in the first place, the home affairs minister said: “they’re entirely separate processes”.. “to gain entry to australia you need both – you actually need the visa, which is determined quite separately, and then you have to meet the entry requirements,” she said.. “i know that people are putting the two issues together, but the visa application process and the granting of a visa is very separate to the additional entry requirements that every traveller needs to meet to be able to enter australia.”.
But he can't come out and say he is anti-vaxx - well, he could.
He could just declare himself to be anti-vaxx and accept any consequences. I'd have more respect for him if he did. Kinda like when Muhammad Ali refused induction, knowing it would derail his career. But Djokovic wants to have it both ways - he's obviously anti-vaccine but still wants to play in Australia.
Unless he has a change of heart and gets the vaccine things aren't gonna go well for him ...

Djokovich says he was not aware of the positive test when he accepted his award and was around kids. He only found out afterwards. But he did break COVID rules when he was interviewed the next day - if he had Covid, he should have been isolating for 14 days as per Serbia's rules, not playing street tennis in Belgrade without a mask. I think he's kinda bang to rights on this, lol.
Worse, Novak, or his agent, chose the No option in answer to the question, 'are you planning to travel, or have you travelled, anywhere in the last 14 days before your trip to Australia?' Beneath the question there is a warning that giving false info is an offence and may lead to a penalty. Novak, or his agent, could be in trouble over this.
TBH, I can't quite work Novak Djokovic out. Is he a sensible, intelligent guy who has legitimate reservations and criticisms of the Covid vaccine, or is he just an anti-vax nutcase?

Surely not all are as a result of vaccines - yes, this is the key point which needs to be established.
What do you make of Emma Raducanu's breathing difficulties at Wimbledon last June?
June was the month I had my two shots, but I'm 42, Raducanu was only 18 at the time. She was surely unvaccinated in June.
Then she breathes absolutely fine a few months later at the US Open in September - after she was vaccinated, maybe?
Clearly there are lots of things which need to be discussed, one of them is the issue of whether the vaccines actually protect against illness from Covid.

Guardian Australia and others reported that Djokovic appeared at public events in the days after his 16 December test result despite Serbia’s rules requiring 14 days of self-isolation - yes, Smiddy.
Djokovic apparently gave false information on his immigration form - the question was 'have you travelled, or will travel, to any countries before your stay in Australia?', and Novak apparently chose the No option. As several photos of a maskless Novak playing tennis in Belgrade, attending an award ceremony for Serb kids, and practicing on a Marbella tennis court show, this was nonsense. <--- not a good look, lol.
Another thing that's occurred to me is Aussie culture. And Aussie culture is noted for being informal. All the blokes call each other 'mate', quite different from the UK.
And here we have ordinary Aussie blokes and Sheilas, having endured 18 months of one of the world's strictest lockdowns, seeing Novak Djokovic waltz in, unvaccinated, wanting to earn big money at the Aussie Open.
'Hey Novak, mate, just get the bloody vaccine. What's wrong, buddy?'

@Vidqun - yes, your last link is a pretty impressive list.
I haven't really got time at the moment to check all those cases featured in your link because I don't have internet access at home - I can only use a public computer for an hour each day, lol.
Lots of pro tennis players are vaccinated - Nadal, Murray, Raducanu, etc. Are we to expect some of these players to retire due to poor health and/or die?

All you've done is given a couple of anecdotes.
I could give a couple of anecdotes of anti-vaxxers who have died from Covid.
Not good enough, Vidqun.
lots of great films in this decade, too.. the elephant man (1980).
the empire strikes back (1980).
the shining (1980).
@truth_be_known - yes, Blade Runner is a very good film.
Another classic - how could I forget - is Aliens (1986).
And I also think Predator (1987) is very good. I love the way it just switches genres halfway through. It starts as a dumb action movie then becomes a slasher movie. Very original.
