Is There Life On Mars?
by LoveUniHateExams inno, i'm not talking about the david bowie song, i'm asking does life exist on mars?.
opportunity rover (the one before the present one) took photos of strange, puffball-like sphericals seemingly sprouting on the martian surface.. these photos aren't conclusive evidence but it is an exciting area to investigate.. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-9546225/scientists-claim-evidence-fungi-red-planet.html .

Bathing Daily Doesn’t Help The Planet
by minimus inthe new york times as well as other news agencies are reporting that in order to help save the planet we should limit our daily bathing.
they say daily bathing really because popular in the 20th century because elites decided to impress and use petroleum based soaps and take advantage of their indoor plumbing.
a lot of this daily bathing ritual was just for show.

I don't bathe daily.
I shower every other day. And, similar to what Diogenesister said, when I shower I only wash with soap the bits that need it - hands, face, underarms, genitals, bottom. My arms, legs and torso get water only.
I only change this routine when it gets really hot in summer - then I'll wash daily.
I grow my beard out and wet shave only once a month.
I do this to make wash and shaving products last longer, as well as saving water.
Edit: I do brush my teeth every day without fail!

May JW Broaadcast - so bad, "it's not even wrong"
by FFGhost indon't know how many of y'all still watch it.. this month's topic is "the king of the north" - cook goes into monotonous detail over the jw interpretation about rome, germany, ussr, russia, etc.. leaving aside for other commentators the emotionally manipulative videos of jws in russian holding cells, the tearjerker interviews, the god-awful stiffness of cook (i suspect he has never genuinely smiled, much less laughed, in his 60+ years), just thought i'd comment on one topic.. the centerpiece of the program is a "morning worship" monologue from splane.
let's again just leave to the side the dude's pomposity, smugness, and inflated sense of his own genius, and think about this part of his monologue.. he was tracing the history of the "king of the north" and talked about how "britain" (not england, not the united kingdom, not great britain, but "britain" - no idea why they have that fixation - anyway...) became the kotn in the 19th century.. paraphrasing his comments: "britain would not have become kotn if france had its way.
france was much wealthier and more powerful, but at the battle of waterloo, britain defeated france.

@SBF - is there any scholarly studies which show that the younger (on average) Remainers were more impacted by bad weather than the typically older Brexiteers in June 2016?
^^^ I'm having a hard time understanding this, TBH.

Lower turnout favours conservatives in elections - where did you get this idea from?
Conservative voters tend to be older. Wouldn't the bad weather have impacted more on those voters than the younger Remain voters?

It definitely came from a laboratory. - yes, this seems most likely.
Why are media and governments not discussing this? - because our governments stand to gain additional powers by keeping us in the dark over its origins.
If Government tells its public Covid came from a lab, then the obvious answer is to punish the lab (China). But that would be risky because China is very powerful with a huge standing army and nuclear weapons, plus the Chinese Communist Party won't be told what to do and ignores all other governments.
Western governments have contingency plans for dealing with pandemics. But they ignored those plans and instead watched China (a dictatorship) enforce lockdown on its oppressed citizens. And Western governments wanted a bit of that.
It's much easier for Western Governments to keep the populace in the dark over Covid's origins, that way the Gov avoids potential conflict with China, plus enables itself to get a whole raft of additional powers (national lockdown, masks, social distancing, 'the rule of six', etc.).
Roll on June 21, lol.

but extending down to the Brexit vote in the UK, which arguably was influenced by the weather on the day of the vote - I'm not sure the weather influenced the Brexit result. It was the same weather for Brexiteers and Remainers.

its likely that there is such a right wing conservative bias on this Xjw group as people identifying as Jehovah’s Witnesses are some of the least educated church goers, and in the lower socio-economic groups. Similarly Trump gained more support amongst lower educated , white working class groups. The JW bigots are now xjw bigots, and make up a significant proportion of opinions in the group.
^^^ Stop calling right-wing people dumb.
Engage with people's arguments.
Thank you.

Audio recording of Martian winds for the first time!
by LoveUniHateExams inperseverance rover has been on mars for a few weeks.
its mission is mainly to analyse martian soil and search for signs of extinct life.. also, perseverance is the first martian explorer vehicle fitted with a microphone, so audio recordings of sounds on mars can be beamed back to earth and heard by us.. these sounds that you can hear in the video are happening nearly 35 million miles away.. pretty awesome, i gotta say ….

And here is the first powered flight on Mars.
Ingenuity took off, ascended to 5 m above the Martian surface, then flew a few metres and back, all done 130 million miles away.
Pretty neat, huh …
