  i was thinking about freedom of speech after watching a clip about the jw suing kevin mcfree.

  they wanted to take away his freedom of speech.

  but in thinking about it, that is the way of the organization, save they want to control thought as well.

  Are the teachings of JW—consistent?

  i would belief so but if you can point something out, it can be discussed.. i don’t mean what jw taught in the past that they later realized was not correct and amended.

  —unless you think and can show something like that is relevant.. i’ve spoken to a lot of believers from different religions.

  i don’t want to bash any religion here under this topic but their beliefs are inconsistent and their reasons are sophistry and made up and grounded on circular reasoning.

  no one has listed the various sex donts - ok, right ...

  No gay relationships at all

  No girl-boy sex outside of marriage

  No oral sex within marriage*

  No anal sex within marriage (even when it's the wife who wants it more than the husband )*

  No heavy petting or dry humping outside marriage*

  No holding hands unless marriage is definitely gonna happen - yes, really

  Is that it? I think I've covered most of the bases here.

  Don't get me wrong - I think marriage is a noble, worth-while institution that we should keep.

  It's just that the way the WTS goes about making petty rules and policing people 24-7 in all aspects of their lives. It's insane ...

  * there is a little flexibility on some of these points. JW married couples can do oral and anal, so long as they don't talk about it to any JW, ever.

  There was emotional acting by the JWs ages ago when I studied The Greatest Man book at the Tuesday house study.

  There was emotional manipulation when Jesus got crucified. Some shit about iron nails hammered through flesh, tearing ligaments, etc.

  Crazy shit worked on me at the time.

  nothing like attending your local kingdom hall in africa with dirt floors, tarps as a roof, brutal heat with no air-conditioning, and small wooden benches to sit on after a hard days work.. does the society help this congregation in africa with a suitable kingdom hall that would have the local members more comfortable with these unbearable conditions?.

  I get why you posted the OP, the WTS preaches that all JWs are brothers, so there should be equality in the religion.

  But there's not.

  There is no equality in this world. Because there can't be. Our species, Homo sapiens, has evolved to live in hierarchical groups. This means that there will always be poor people and people at the top, rich bastards.

  Sorry, that's just the way it is - a world where everyone has the exact same amount in the bank is impossible.

  Which of you readers are being shunned by their relatives / friends ?

  a simple " me" if you dont want to say more--or a short explanation about who is shunning you and how long has this been going on.. i'll set the ball rolling: my daughter--her husband and children; my younger son --no contact from them for 40 years...because i left their religion..   I'm out the cult but I'm being kinda 'soft-shunned' by two members of my family (who AREN'T JWs, lol).

  My aunt has stopped inviting me to her house after we clashed a bit in July 2017. She didn't know that black Africans sold other black Afruicans into slavery, lol.

  But I'm still facebook friends with her, as I am with her daughter, my cousin. She must have seen some of my feminist-critical FB posts over the past few years. The last time I saw her was in 2018.

  My cousin is also a passionate Remainer as well as a full-on feminazi. And I voted Leave. This also might have something to do with it.
