Why is this blind allegiance to the anointed ones?
by anointed1 ineven when they know that certain things are not right with the organization the flocks are blindly following their leaders viewing them as the future “kings and priests” (originally a sumerian concept).. greed for a “land of milk and honey” (either in this life or the next) is at the root of their allegiance.
interestingly, greed is something the flocks are warned against: ‘be on your guard against all kinds of greed which is idolatry.’ (luke 12:15; colossians 3:5).

@anointed1
I agree with what you wrote about self empowerment
There seems to be a part in the nature of some
that doesn't feel qualified to make their own decisions
JWs in times past would write "The (Watch Tower) Society/Mother" for
help with all sorts of life decisions
Now it's elders that are put upon to help with things including the
mundane:
"What clothing should I wear?"
To me this doesn't seem like normal behaviour

Thanks cofty
For me it's a 7 for the God of the Bible
created by man in his image
A rather vicious personage softened later
by the appearance of Jesus Christ
Other than that a 6
I like to operate with a margin of error
As I don't know everything (yet)

Millions now living will never die
by stillin inbut pretty much all of them are now dead.
and so are billions of others.
so, god doesn't desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance?

@David_Jay
David,
Thank you for your comments,
My interests are mainly as a non religious secular these days but as I was
raised a JW the subject of world religion still interests me,
The contrast that you made between the JW view of end times
(parousia) and mainstream Christianity is interesting,
A question occurred to me as to the difference between Old World
Churches and American religions,
When you hear of predictions concerning the end they seem to be
almost exclusively in the domain of American Religions whether the JWs
The Seventh Day Adventists, Christian Evangelicals etc
The first two groups, as well as others, came from what came to be
known as the "Burned Over District" Lake Erie area of the early 1800s
(see Wikipedia)
An important development for the JW religion was the gathering one
day in 1844, of William Miller and his followers to be taken up with Christ
to Heaven, known as the "The Rapture"
The failure came to be known as "The Great Disappointment"
So we have a significant event of Adventistism in American
Christianity
An early associate of CT Russell was Nelson Barbour,
Barbour was a Millerite and an Adventist
The "Advent" is what got Russell excited about religion in the first place
after flirting with Atheism,
Soon after this Russell/Barbour were publishing/predicting dates,
The first date predicted for Christ's invisible parousia was 1874,
So I'm seeing a tremendous amount of American Adventist activity dating
back almost 200 years!
Now, what I understand from you David, is that the established (old world)
churches have been teaching that the parousia takes place in the end of
times,
Tepid

Thanks Smiddy,
Something you wrote reminded me of the story of Elijah on Mt Carmel
for the big test of Godship,
Pretty impressive what happened,
I would be happy if he'd just say Hi

WT Flip-Flops on Jesus Inspection Was it in 1918 or 1919?... Did the WT PASS or FAIL?
by Alfred inthis is utterly ridiculous.... .
the more i research this particular subject, the more flip-flops i uncover.
it seems the fds cant even make up their minds regarding what happened in 1918 (or should i say 1919?).

Question
If you spent your ENTIRE LIFE
building an airplane that would NEVER FLY
Would you keep on spending each waking moment
Trying to figure out which 3 bolts are misaligned?
Not me
I would at a point realize that the design is
OBVIOUSLY SERIOUSLY FLAWED
AND GET ON WITH MY LIFE
But that would be just me

@anointed1
I realized after reading you OP
that your beef is not with "the Anointed"
but with "The Governing Body"
7 men in upstate New York who run the show,
Cheers,

Jesus said that "whoever believes in me will never die at all"
Paul said, over 2000 years ago that Christ was coming to bring vengeance
on those persecuting them (2 Thess 1) Those Paul wrote to 2000 years
ago were looking forward to this relief
I wonder if they were thinking about this when Nero had them burned
on crosses toward the end of that century
I understand that there was new light on these scriptures
My name is Tepid
I'm a Heathen
