If the postcards in Mike and Kim's videos take hold, then that's what will be left for witnessing.

JW.borg permanent booths in flea markets
by EndofMysteries ini have seen in my local area and while traveling a foreign country jw.borg booths at flea markets.
i remember about 8 or 9 years ago seeing a russellite table at a flea market, and a jw with me said how they were from russells time when those apostates left and the only preaching they do is setting up stands like that.
now jw's are doing the same thing.

Public defiance against blood transfusions. Will this guy be disfellowshipped?
by kneehighmiah inhttp://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/ashya-kings-father-says-hell-4256798.
we've been following this story.
how can someone openly defy the governing body and yet avoid being disfellowshipped?

Interesting post.
No idea of the Mirror's credibility - but the story seems straightforward enough.
As one cannot be DF'd for accepting blood, but may be DA'd if not repentant - this makes for an interesting JW theological challenge when allowing your child to accept blood.

How much meaning are the rank and file putting on October 2014?
by JimmyPage init's definitely on their minds.
i attended a funeral recently and a jw told me that the person who died almost made it to the 100 year anniversary of the birth of the kingdom.. curious what comments like this you've heard in your area?.
(and can't wait for november!).

Sorry, but did the Kingdom not originally begin ruling in 1799?
Hence, are we not celebrating 215 years?

THE ULTIMATE statement which addresses the cult of death: Armageddon obsession
by Terry inthis, in my opinion, is one of christopher hitchens' most concise statements about obsession with armageddon.. i'd love to have a transcript of this and just sit and memorize it:).

How many of you followed the WTS direction on education years ago and have been screwed by it?
by Julia Orwell ini'm really interested in this question because i've heard for years that if you forgo further education and go pioneering, when you have a family down the track you will get a good job because jehovah will provide for you because you pioneered.
as long as i was a kool-aid drinker, even then, i thought, "how does pioneering pay your bills?
surely education should come first.

This, to me, (barring suicides and family disorders) is one of the saddest threads.
The absolute destruction of someone's life to pioneer for x number of years is irreprehensible.
It is vile to the n'th degree.

My evening at the pub - how many ex-JW's do you think there are?
by berrygerry inso i'm having a pint and talking to the owner and his gf.. she's talking about her line of work - leads to my family history - and that my wife is in a strange religion.. the owner snorts, and says very disdainfully that his ex was a jehovah's witness.
i said bingo.. then the barmaid pipes in about her grandma and all of her aunts and uncles were witnesses, and were all out.
but the grandma has witness siblings, so went back after 20 years.

That's a good chart.
Can you imagine comparing WTS to another corporation?
The churn rate is pretty high, and the customer acquisition cost is skyrocketing.
Time for new management!

So I'm having a pint and talking to the owner and his GF.
She's talking about her line of work - leads to my family history - and that my wife is in a strange religion.
The owner snorts, and says very disdainfully that his ex was a Jehovah's Witness. I said Bingo.
Then the barmaid pipes in about her grandma and all of her aunts and uncles were Witnesses, and were all out. But the grandma has Witness siblings, so went back after 20 years. Her kids were upset that she went back.
As the barmaid didn't know much about being a JW, she was fascinated and asked question after question.
Anyways, it got me thinking that there must be multi-millions who have left.

The frustration of talking to a person with a closed mind
by TheStumbler inokay, this is going to be a bit of a general rant.
i had a long conversation with a jw elder recently about shunning and evolution.
i became qunite frustrated with the conversation and admitted this at the time.

The cult mind protects itself by going numb.
It is impossible to have a real conversation with someone who is dependent on the group.
