  because all the evidence in fulfilment of bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years...as a young person you will never fulfil any career that this system offers".

  how many of you know about this san diego mansion?

  i just found out about it recently.

  apparently it was built for old testament faithful men to live in upon resurrection in 1925 such as abraham, moses etc.

  Unfortunately the quote seems to only be in the comments section made by the poster 'zeb' which is the same username as the poster in this thread who posted the same quote - but sadly with no reference to where the actual quote comes from. (and you kinda reminded me about something else too )

  You also linked to Barbara Anderson's website - and reminded me that I'm still waiting for confirmation regarding a newspaper quote that she has used (and please I'm really really hoping it's not the quote from the UK Sunday newspaper 'The Sunday People' )

  old cd's of the library

  The first WT CD Library actually only contained the Awake! going back to 1980 - a couple of years later it was expanded to go back to 1970 - but no further - and that hasn't changed, the current CD goes back to 1970.

  Sure you can complain all you want that they've decided not to go back further on the CD (and I wish they would) but you can't complain they've removed something that didn't exist in that CD format in the first place

  Hi Landy!

  Is it now mandatory that you have to become a trustee on appointment to an elder?

  What if you can't become a trustee*, would that also prevent you from ever becoming an elder?

  *Undischarged bankrupt or an IVA/Criminal conviction involving dishonesty/Disqualified as company director
  

  I understand that, if you were an elder still, you would formally withdraw from being a trustee (ie the congregation secretary would not just delete you, but a letter would be written to the Charity Commission.)

  And presumably if you were to be made an elder (ie what would have been a new trustee), a letter would to sent to the CC confirming you were not a trustee.

  darkspliver, I believe this quote is from the video recordings of the investigation. You can find the videos on Youtube, but I don't know on which day it was said, assuming that it was said, of course.
  

  Thanks, yeah, the video recordings are all transcribed and available on the ARC's website - therefore I've already tried doing a key word search, but nothing turns up :( - that's why I was asking ;)

  Was it said by the ARC Chair, or in one of the submissions / statements made at the ARC, rather than by the ARC?

  I'm not disagreeing with the quote, just wondering with how it's presented

  It seems it started in 1928 when the WT taught that some of the annointed remnant would survive Armageddon and would still be on earth to welcome back resurrected faithful ones of old - and therefore, by building and preparing a house that these faithful ones could live in, was a display of the faith that the WT had that these events would actually happen.

  Watchtower 15 December 1928, paragraphs 35 and 36

  35 Following the great battle, as indicated by the words of the prophet, there comes a time of blessing upon the people, and in this the remnant will have some part. "And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people, as dew from the Lord, as the showers upon the grass, that tarrieth not for man, nor waiteth for the sons of men." (Micah 5:7) The remnant are shown in the midst of the people as "dew from the Lord" and as "showers upon the grass", and these words indicate comfort and blessings to the people. This may be taken as an indication that some of the remnant will be on earth even after Armageddon is fought and will then have some more work to do in the name of the Lord and to his praise and glory. The people, having passed through the great and terrible trouble, will no longer look to men for help nor watch for the sons of men to bring them aid and comfort but will turn to the Lord and gladly hear his Word. Some creatures will have the privilege, as the Lord’s agents and messengers, of bearing the message of peace to the people.

  36 The remnant of the Lord, according to this prophecy, will go on to triumph in the strength of Jehovah. A lion is a monarch among the beasts of the forest, and none can stand before him. The flocks of sheep are without power against a strong and young lion amongst them. Thus the faithful remnant of God is described by the prophet. These shall be amidst the nations of many people strong and vigorous in the name of the Lord to help those that want help and to point out God’s method of destroying those that resist. The 'hand lifted up against the adversaries' means that God's power will be exercised against all adversaries and all enemies of the people shall be cut off. "And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles in the midst of many people as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep; who, if he go through, both treadeth down, and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver. Thine hand shall be lifted up upon thine adversaries, and all thine enemies shall be cut off." (Micah 5:8, 9) These words of the prophet seem to warrant the conclusion above suggested.

  Missing Thread: "Kingdom Cookies" and Worshiping a Rock From Bethel

  anyone know what happened to that thread?

  i remember reading it a few weeks back, but now i can't find it with any of the search terms that i included in the title of this thread.

  basically it was about jws viewing bethel as the holy land and objects from it as sacred, which included cafeteria cookies dubbed "kingdom cookies" and one brother showing off a piece of broken concrete from a construction site at bethel, to the oohs and ahhhs of his fellow r&f.. was that a thread of its own, or were some folks just talking about it in an unrelated thread?.
