what buzz word from the jw's do you hate & why?
by Sabin inso my hubby has been on a bit of a roll about the jdubs, we were talking a lot about them & he said the buzz word he hate's the most is "worldly" why?
because he say's "with that one word they have condemned (according to their believes) a person as being worthy of nothing but death.
".

Wait on Jehovah, Trust in Jehovah- a statement used to counter any complaints about unfairness or unclear doctrines -

New light. Or the light keeps getting brighter- greatest gimmick ever!!! we weren't wrong, just needed new light.
Bad association: anyone not a JW, everyone not brainwashed = no friends

"Reproach on Jehovah's name"
by Phizzy inthe longer i am away from the cult, the more very childish and downright silly it seems in many many ways.. just another example of the childlike way they do not think things through is their obsession with "not bringing reproach on jehovah's name", that concept was used to stop jw's doing all sorts of stuff, a lot of it quite normal.. but the worst aspect of this concept is that they cover up the evil within their org any way they can.. yet they only have to look back on all the cover-ups of the past, by other religions, by politicians etc etc to see that an open acknowledgement and an open dealing with the situation at the time is far better.. cover-ups get exposed in the end, and leave you looking far worse than if dealt with honestly..

That phrase is a powerful tool for keeping people in line. It can be used to justify disfellowshipping or cause to fear disfelloiwshipping. This phrase defined my childhood and left me looking over my shoulder with panic as I evaluated my every action.
One of the first thoughts that went through my 12 year old head when I discovered that my "Elder" foster father was molesting my sisters ,was how can I stop him without "bringing reproach on Jehovah?"
You were right: cover up it was. Tell the elders and not the authorities. Not even the case worker. Tell no one . No reproach....my responsibility, my duty.

No theocratic school or service meeting starting 2016 -
by MissFit injws from my congergation stopped by my house during their saturday service time to "catch me up on new changes".

Thank you Simon. I did try to look it up but wasn't sure what subject to look under.
Joe: I try. I have better things to do so I usually don't bother to keep up. But I enjoy reading the discussions and opinions here about changes. I had to bite my tongue when the JWs were gushing about how wonderful and loving the GB was. I needed different voices in my head. I dont want a relapse.

If there is already a discussion about this could you send me a link?

Unevenly yoked - it does work!!!
by quellycatface injust wanted to share with my friends, old and new, i got married to an "unbeliever" 11 years ago.. at the weekend we had our marriage blessed in our local parish church with a little party after.. my husband always supported my religious convictions until i disassociated myself in december 2013.. don't deprive yourself of love just because of the jw's.
life is too short.. god bless.

Quelly: congratulations. I have a similar experience minus the religious blessing. My hubby is non religious but did not object to my activities as long as a didn't try to convert him.
We agreed that I would take the kid's to meetings and teach them but they would have to decide for themselves.
I was considered "spiritually weak". I was always off and on with meetings and "service". The fear of Armageddon and hope of paradise kept me clinging on.
We have been married for 30 years. Actually I have teased him about being lucky I was a JW & didnt celebrate things, because he wasnt into that stuff any way. LOL
None of my three kids are in.

My heart goes out to you and especially your daughter.
I think it is important for more people to see how badly most JW congergations treat victims who come forward.
The leadership says publicly that they dont discourage victims reporting to the authorities. But in practice we see the treatment the victims get when they do.
Your daughter's courage is an inspiration.
