  You truly are a "thinking" young man. I admire your quest in doing research!

  One of the things you stated was "the lack of love" and how that is how we are suppose to be identified as Jehovah's people, being a JW. That was one of the reasons that finally woke me up. I have moved around a lot in the USA and found that there was NOT a brotherly love by the horrible things said, especially the elders. With my recent moves, all the congregation cared about was my PUBLISHER CARD....NOT ME.

  Seeing the last 10 minutes of the May 2002 Dateline that exposed the pedophile problem in the WTBS was my defining moment. I had been a very zealous JW, raised in the religion and raised both my adult sons. It was as Dr. Phil said: "a defining moment in my life". How could I go from door to door saying we are a "clean organization" when we are no better then the Catholics they put down constantly (because of their pedophile problem) ? I went in the door to door one more time. Sat in a car with gossiping elder's wife. That was my last time....early 2003.

  Keep posting and reading. Rely on your "gut" feelings, they are there for a reason.

  First impressions of Dallas

  hi all - well i got here a few hours ago.

  the flight started off well, but i got over greenland and suddenly got very ill - high temperature, and nausea.

  i called the flight attendants who moved to the back and in the process i fainted.

  I watched the last 10 minutes which made quite an impression on me. The hypocrisy of the WTBS!!! I had a sickening feeling that they were no better then the Catholic Church, whom they protested against for years at the KH because of their pedophile problem. I actully went to work with my head down the next day. I know a lot of them watch DATELINE.... of course they said nothing to me. (they liked me even though I was a JW)

  At the following Sunday meeting, they announced because of the Dateline program, that the Thursday meeting would have a "special part' about it.

  We went enthusiastically, thinking they would take measures of apology and recognize the WTBS has made mistakes and they would do everything to clear it up. Instead, they swept it under the rug and although they don't believe in pedophiles or child molestationg, they mentioned the people on DATELINE were df'd.

  They were df'd because they were told IF they appeareded on the show, and told their stories, thus exposing the WTBS, they would be df'd.

  Then I knew Jehovah was never behind this supposed only "true religion"......

  Quite a "defining moment" for me....as Dr. Phil would say.

  i am new to this forum, and am just starting to get over the guilt of reading posts here.

  i was raised as a witness, was disfellowshipped last year.

  all my brothers and sister left too, so my parents were devastated when i left, as i was the only one left going to meetings.

  I watched my Mom die of cancer when I was 14. It was what Dr. Phil said: " a defining point in my life".

  I can understand why you don't want to rock the boat with how you feel about the religion....with your Mom.

  Do you get together with your siblings? This can be a source of strength for you, with your mom being so sick.

  Missing someone... badly

  brigid took a weekend trip back to where she moved from to visit family.. i know it's selfish of me, but i miss her very, very badly.

  i have never missed anyone so badly in my life, other than my son when he visits his mother.

  and it's only been three days.. it's very lonely here without her.

  i was raised among the witnesses and left in my early 30's due to a mixture of doctrinal disputes and social isolation.

  my mother and both of my sisters remain within the organization.

  i also have two brothers, one df'd, one who never quite caught the watchtower bug.. my road within the organization was a rocky one that eventually lead to a place where i found myself socially isolated within the congregation as a person simply unfit for fellowship with proper, upright, theocratic people who must cut off all 'worldy' association, suffer the ensueing isolation, and eat humble pie until such a time as they determined i was 'spiritual minded' enough for them to associate with.. baptism was held up as my expected goal, but despite trying, i was never quite good enough for them.

  I use to be amazed by the lack of love and the different unkind comments, but with my years at the board, it is "common". That doesn't excuse the JW's lack of love by any means. Just further proof that they don't have one of the fruits of a true religion: brotherly love.

  I couldn't imagine Jesus ever saying what that elder said to you:

  The final straw for me was when an elder actually said I should stop asking to be baptized and equated my depression with mental retardation by saying "as a retarded person, you can't BE baptized, you are under your mother's grace."

  Shame on him......

  Effective Ways To Lose Weight

  my daughter's husband, her 2 best girlfriends and my ex are taking these mysterious pills that cut their appetite.

  within 1 month they have all lost between 20 to 25 lbs.

  when i saw my sil the other day, i didn't recognize him even though i had seen him 3 weeks before.

  I lost 25 pounds in 3 weeks or less after having my only child..........breastfeeding was the key....

  I never loved eating......and hated the thought of keeping weight.........was that "mind control" of my own? lol

  That was a true story.

  I have never had a weight problem... But someone taking a pill and loosing that kinda weight is NOT healthy.

  Get off your butt and walk at least 30 minutes a day and cut back on your food and drink.............healthy way to loose.

  Stress can do a lot to you...even if it is the good stress of marrying a guy you really love. You have a lot to do I would imagine, more then the usual bride because you will be living in Scotland? I couldn't fathom moving to another country on top of a wedding!!! You have a lot to do before your big day!!!

  Are you getting enough sleep? Taking your vitamins......sorry I am sounding like your Mom...lol

  Sleep is like gold and for me helps me not to be scattered.

  Looking forward to seeing you and Littletoe at the crawfest...........yahoooooo and maybe the eve at Hemplover's for if I can talk NOdenial into driving out that night. We are a good hour drive away from where she lives.
