* 1935 has no special biblical significance.. * 1918 has no special biblical significance.. * gog of magog is not satan, but is a coalition of nations, who may be ruled by the mysterious king of the north.. * there is no evil slave class.

Last night's bible highlights: David was wrong to greive for his son!

last night's bible highlights was really eyebrow raising!

the brother pointed out at lenght about how david had wept when his son absalom was killed.

but that because absalom was killed while opposing jehovah that means that david was wrong and weak to greive for him.. it was applied to today by saying that if our children are df'd when they die then we should not grieve for them either!.

I was told by my study conductors that there was a ....."...time to laugh and a time to cry..." so on and so forth. My daughter had been dead less than two years at the time and I was devastated. They also pointed out that my continuing to grieve for her showed a lack of faith in the resurrection promise.

Wow! I couldn't believe my ears. I asked them if they had ever lost a child and they said no, but we are ......."just reminding you ----- that your' daughter is now unaware of what is going on, she has paid the ultimate price for her imperfection. Therefore, you should be more optimistic about this situation and trust god more. If you don't then it could be that you lack faith in god and the guidance that is given to you through the society".

It was incredible to hear these nasty people give out such "timely advice" in such a cold and distant manner. At the time I was so vulnerable I chose to stay with the teachings and try to subsume my grief so as not to be overly adoring of my child. For.." Yes! They were telling me that my grief, if sustained for too long, could provide Satan with the perfect weapon to stop my progress in the truth. I was told to ...more or less...".get over it as soon as possible and get out in the field work and meet others in the truth and all would be okay".

as the bad conduct of the governing body becomes widely known to both judge and jury i expect that will make lawsuits more profitable against them and easier wins against them and more plentiful.. i think probably one of the most damming videos out there on the net is the one where the parents show their loyalty to the wt corporation and shun their own flesh and blood in obedience to it cruel directives.

this video truely shows that the governing body don't give a shit about the children who symbolize their dedication to the corporation or their parents.. such a self serving corporation that uses it members for profits only and offer nothing in return no matter how much how much they claim otherwise.

they can't hide this it is plain as day so no matter how much they claim they are concerned about the youth in the organization their action thunder loudly and can not be hiden under a basket.

I felt she was being terribly serious (for this little assignment anyway) Yet I felt she looked more stressed......oh I don't know......something didn't sit right with me as I watched her. I don't think she believes herself deep inside; just used as a propaganda tactic by the society. I'm betting this woman will end up leaving and I can't justify why I feel this way.

One thing is for sure. As one person pointed out in this thread. I will be very hard to deny that shunning does not happen in this religion. It's out now.

Maybe it's the new paradise on earth prototype (just kidding). Wouldn't it be sort of freaky if this was the case? For, they really love conformity in everything..........they are comfortable with sameness. They don't like anything to be out of the ordinary or not officially approved by the GB.

You may not poach on their land though!! That belongs to the royalty and accompanying staff.

I don't believe it's due to expansion at all. There is a great deal of apathy here in Australia. Some of the older witnesses say it's due to a materialistic life style...............and so on. I know that the halls I have attended are often half empty during the mid week meetings. Not so full on the Sunday meetings either. They often amalgamate two congregations to make it look "fuller". Life is still pretty good in this country and the troubles of the rest of the world seem...........a world away. So, it is hard to use the old "The end is near" line when everything seems quite okay to the average person on the street.

His video's are excellent in subject matter and quality. He debunks JW doctrine without losing the plot and maintains a cool head regardless of the subject matter.

Very good site for those who are confused about their feelings regarding the "truth".

Paraplegic JW example used at assemblies

it seems like every time our circuit failed to meet the field service goals set by our co, the very next circuit assembly would invariably include a talk that mentions a chronically ill paraplegic sister who would dial the phone with her tongue to make return visits or conduct bible studies... i must have heard this experience at least 6 or 7 times in the past 20 years or so.

and every time i heard this recycled talk, they would add even more guilt-inducing twists to it.

to me, it eventually became way to difficult to believe...

I always feel nauseated when I see incredibly old and infirm brothers and sisters supposedly going out on the work. The agonizingly slow exit from the car as a walker is put in place for them to grasp and shuffle to a door. The panting and sweating and the complicated ritual of somehow getting a magazine or pamphlet out of their bags (this is usually done by the younger sister who is accompanying the elderly one) This example of infirmity and the "dedication" being shown to us younger ones is well designed to create guilt at the very least. For..." If sister Bridget can go out on the work with her cancer and her hip replacement only a few months behind her. And if sister Bridget can struggle through this exhausting process in order to bring the truth to someone. Then you have no excuses to hold up to the society. You are selfish and lazy. You are not applying yourself with all of your heart are you?

I have seen this so often within the congregations that I have attended and I wonder at the indignity of it all. I must sound harsh but really, it makes me think of pilgrimages on hands and knees to some sacred site. I seems to be all for show and as a means of publishing the societies expectations toward all who can still walk without aids. No excuses allowed.

By the way, I am not a young person by any stretch of the imagination. So this is not a rant about youth versus age. It's just an observation about how far a group people will go to make a name for themselves.

Imagine the horror some of the householders must feel upon opening the door and seeing this woman who can hardly stand up. It's a summer morning and the sun is already stinking hot. How must they, the householders feel when confronted by this sort of "witnessing".
