The most active hurricane season on record was in 1933 with 21 storms. Next in line was 1995 with 19. With Tammy, we are now in a tie with 1995.
And in 1933, they didn't have sattelite technology. They only used ships and bouys. So there may have been as many as 30 storms.
As yesterday morning broke "Tammy" was sitting off our coast about 20 miles bringing beach erosion, rip currents, huge waves! Lots, & lots of rain! wind gusts were at 15- 25mph at times. But by late afternoon she had scampered on out of here! Being my name is Tammy the family was waiting for me to turn into a hurricane and see what I`d do!!!!
So, why do we name storms, anyway? Up here, we get blizzards. We call them all sons of bitches. No names, just titles. It seems so unnecessary, not to mention over-friendly. The storms don't call us by names, why should we call them by names?

The reason why hurricanes are named.
