Jehovah's Witnesses are members of the JW religion (naturally) They use the Watchtower to depart food at the proper time (This food coming from the faithful and discreet slave - mainly the governing body @ brooklyn bethal) you cannot have JW without the Watchtower. They JW's say the Watchtower heralds gods kingdom & go so far to say that Jehovah is the "editor" of the magazine.

Armegeddon - this is recorded in Revelation & means Valley of Megeddo. There was a literal place with this name. Huge decisive battles used to occur in this region. Revelation speaks about all the kings of the earth being gathered together in the valley of megeddo to do battle with (not too sure if it says with heaven) Heaven.

The watchtower teaches that this is obviously not a literal gathering at megeddo but signifies that all the earths politcal leaders, church leaders will be "there"(and megeddo is too small to accommodate everyone) However, it will be a literal war between Heaven & earth. God will be fighting for his people. (before Armegeddon strikes though there will be a great tribulation that has never been seen nor will be seen again). Armegeddon is when the wicked will be destroyed!!!!!! The wicked being all those not of the JW faith loyal to the organisation.

If you are destroyed at Armegeddon you will have no hope of a resurrection. No one knows when Armegeddon will come - though the JW's did point to 1975 as being the likely date. We survived. They do however believe that Armegeddon is JUST around the corner.

Also known as Gods' day of destruction.

Disfellowshiping & Disassociation. If you committed some gross sin (or not so gross) you were called before a Judicial committer. Here you have at least 3 elders that ask you questions about your sin. Once they have got what they need, you may get off lightly with a "reproof (public or private)* A reproof is when you have been lovingly disaplined (if you're sin was not that bad and you have proven you are sorry with all your crying and pleading for forgiveness) all your privileges, such as answering, giving talks, helping out at the magazine desk or doing mikes, are taken away.

However if you are not sorry enough, there is probably another meeting & if you don't snivel & cry & beg you are disfellowshipped. This means that you are expelled out of the congregation and no Jehovah Witness should speak to you or fellowship with you. You are "spirituall unclean" and they need to keep the congregations clean......You may choose to go to meetings but no one will speak to you. You are considered dead to Jehovah. You may claw your way back over a period of months, proving yourself repentant - you then get re-instated.

You Dissassociate yourself, you usually write a letter stating you no longer want to be a Jehovah witness. You are then treated like a disfellowshipped person as you have deliberately turned your back on Jehovah.

It used to be announced whether you were disfellowshipped or disassociated, but now it is just said that "Louise is no longer a Jehovah Witness" - this of course leads to much speculation & lies.

Perhaps in your conclusion, you might want to mention the most important teachings of all, and make the point that these would not be described as such by most JWs, but true nevertheless, are probably:

    1. The faithful and discreet slave. Christ returned in 1914 (invisibly) and during 1918 -19 he inspected the world's religions to see which was feeding people with proper spiritual food, and in Spring 1919 appointed the Bible Students (Watchtower) (Matthew 24:45-47) This is the most quoted JW text by a mile. This teaching is the most important as it alone gives them full authority over the whole world. They substitute for Christ and speak for God.
    2. Proverbs 4:18 The teaching that the light keeps getting brighter as God gradually reveals information only to his appointed organisation. This allows them to explain away all former mistakes and wrong teachings as old truths, which are constantly replaced by new truths. This allows constant change so they can stay current and therefore not lose followers when problems occur with teachings.
