ROFLMAO, kls! This whole thread is funny!
kls, the childbirth thingie reminds me of when I was in labor with my daughter back in '68. We were living in Maryland. There was snow. We would have to drive across county to Bethesda Naval Hospital.
I had been having back labor all day and the "contractions" were irregular, nothing like my labor with the oldest son. It was late at night and my favorite TV show was on...."Heeeeeere's Johnny!" I had my suitcase prepared and was sitting on the suitcase in front of the TV enjoying Johnny, but I finally became so uncomfortable that I called Bethesda Naval Hospital and described what had been happening all day and what progress I'd made (just more pain and discomfort) and I asked the nurse if I should come in or would it be okay if I waited till my TV show was over. She said, "Lady, we can't examine you over the phone!" I gave up and we drove over there where I had her just 2 hrs later (whew). Thank goodness for reruns!
