Only one I got was the doubling time. Sure hope I don't have to look for a new job any time soon!

The second question is a cousin to another one I heard years ago:

If it takes six cats six minutes to catch six rates, how many minutes does it take for one cat to catch one rat?

The others were also easy. The key word in the first question was "more" as in "the bat cost one pound MORE than the ball." One pound is only 90 pence more than 10 pence.

Simon is right about these kinds of questions being used to ferret out people without having to resort to standard IQ tests. Microsoft uses questions just like these in their application process.

    Logic rules!

Answer that will get you the job:

"Unmanaged they'll take six minutes per rat.

Give me the team, I'll have those cats down to five minutes per, in six months."

    Big Smile, laughs.

I do job interviews for fun. We all should.

It keeps them guessing if you'll stay, is good for the ego, and who knows, you might get your dream job.
