Why do Jehovah’s Witnesses say that God’s Kingdom was established in 1914? Because it's of the time that they have been living in, and they are "so important" that it must be true.

If there's one thing you Can be sure of - it's that they're wrong.

    7 times in daniel

stillajwexelder, That 7 times in Daniel chapter4:18-22 has nothing to do with God's Kingdom. Daniel said it represented King Neb. and 7 times would pass over HIS rulership. Page 87 of the Daniel book. The WTS on page 94 par. 24 contridicts Daniel and says the "tree" represents God's rulership and that prophecy in Daniel says it represents King Neb. But WTS uses this to throw 607 at you and you have to believe them or you are labeled an Apostate. That organization is built on the 1914 doctrine and they have to have 607 to get 1914.Every encyclopedias and History says Babylon desolated Jerusalem in 587 not 607.Society agrees 539 when Babylon fell and the last 4 Kings of Babylon ruled:counting backwards, Nabonidus 17 years,Neriglissar4years. Evil-Marduk 2years and King Neb. 43 years. A total of 66 years.WTS says King Neb. begin ruling in 624 yoy can not get 539 using that date. History says King Neb. begin ruling in 605 Starting with 605 as 1 year down to 587 is 19 years. 2Kings 25:8-9 says the 19th year was when Jerusalem was desolated. So simple really.

Don't know what happened that last post was truncated.

What I wanted to ask was: how do we calculate the 70 years of desolation. When do the 70 years start and when do they end?

By using secular sources. Every once in a while, some JW or someone still believing JW doctrine shows up, claiming that the BIBLE says that the exile began in 537 bc. But the Bible doesn`t say that (of course, Jesus hasn`t been born yet), it only says that "in the xxx year of the reign of king something-something, the people of Judeah were thrown out on their ass". Whatever year THAT means, has to be established by secular sources (babylonian chronology). So whatever and however the JWs turn and twist this, they HAVE to put their faith in secular sources EITHER WAY! The starting year of the desolation CAN NOT be determined by Biblical sources anyway, that would be impossible. So either way, the JWs are screwed.

LoLs @ farkel for the explanation, I loved it! "Really stupid ancient people RULE" - LOOOOOOOOOL.

(but my point was that on one or several occasions there HAD to be a date that JWs got from secular historians, a set date on which king something-something ruled, a date that could ONLY be established by secular historiy, and you showed that they did).
