Black Sheep - Sorry I disagree....there are hundreds if not thousands of government, scientific, or medical resources to use. But a rouge crackpot website isn't going to get you a free cup of coffee in my book.

I don't think you understand how testing is done. Screening tests are highly sensitive and will almost always tell if someone has HIV unless the person is in the window phase. Unfortunately, these tests are so sensitive, they may give a positive result when the patient does not have HIV. This is called a false positive. When a positive result occurs, a confirmatory test is done to double-check the result and make sure it is not a false positive.

Confirmatory tests are more specific than screening tests. This means they will almost never give a positive result unless the person truly has HIV infection. This allows laboratory personnel to identify false-positive screening test results with great accuracy. If the confirmatory test is positive, the person has HIV. Sometimes, confirmatory test results are indeterminate - not clearly positive or negative, and follow-up testing after six months or more is necessary. Unfortunately confirmatory tests, like screening tests, do not identify people in the window phase of infection.

However you seem more ill at ease about knowing your HIV status as some sort of societal shunning. So to make sure you don't have a false postive....better not to get tested?

I'm not going to deny that there are some crackpot websites out there, EF. There are some crackpot ex-JW websites out there too, but their existance can't be used as evidence that all ex-JWs are crackpots.

Please notice that you are throwing a blanket over all AIDS Apostate websites and demonizing them as being crackpots. This is the same thing the Borg did to you and me.

Rian's article was based on government and medical stats. that he dredged up to try to dethrone Mbeki. What did you think of his article? How would you rate his sources as to their reliability?

I happen to have just watched an hour long documentary on HIV/AIDS in SA, it was heartbreaking. Young kids who lost their parents to AIDS had to work in prostitution to survive and ended up contracting the disease themselves.

I don't have any respect for people trying to prove it was man made or use the crisis to win souls for their cult/religion. Some argue that putting money in research is useless or that it's all a hoax, I don't respect people who do that either. We actually might be close to a "cure" but nobody dares to say it anymore because of the false claims in the past having ruined reputations of respected scientists. We WILL solve it but until then we'll have to promote safe sex aggresively.

At the moment India has the fastest growing number of HIV infections and the problem is exploding in China as well. In some African countries the number is actually dropping but still 3 quarters of all infected live in subsaharan Africa (25million).

ps: I always thought the disease sprung onto humans by Africans eating monkey genitals for supposedly increasing potency.

We actually might be close to a "cure" Paradise but nobody dares to say it anymore because of the false claims in the past having ruined reputations of respected scientists. We WILL solve Jehovah will save us it but until then we'll have to promote safe sex God's Kingdom aggresively.

    Sigh

Black Sheep here is the research references which you can go look up and review. However to be honest...I don't think you are really interested in the research so much as to simply look for a conspiracy theory. Maybe I'm wrong. Just telling you how I see it. The evidence / research papers is overwhelming. If you simply want to take an opposing view so be it.... Also, some of your statements have me wondering what exactly your background and training is. Can I ask what your background is?

My last post corrupted this thread for a time being. Simon fixed the thread, but about 2/3 of my last posts reference materials were cut off. I'll find a link for someone to download it if necessary.
