.....dont make the mistake of locking your self into one style. Learning blues, classical... even country can help you make a lot of progress in rock styles and make you a better overall musician.And for the love of God, man, do away with those finger nails!!!

t.r i remember when i was learning i did it with a pal of mine
we got the beach boys songbook and played the simple songs...sloop john b was the first
we were so bad at changing chords that one of us would look ahead to see what the next chord coming up was and while i played the one chord he would go to the next and then i would join him when i got my fingers in place...we seriously believed that that was how guitarists would have to do it to perform
anyway stick at it...i learned on a old classical guitar with some nylon strings and a bowed neck
but when i got a half decent acoustic it was so much easier
at least 20 mins everyday..chords and scales
