Watchtower Votes in United Nations Affairs from: http://www.randytv.com/secret/UNvoting.htm Summary -- U.N. Voting Resolutions An ?Awake? magazine encouraged one reader to investigate more information on the United Nations, and to his surprise he found some information to be quite shocking! The article in question actually encouraged it?s readers to ask Jehovah?s Witnesses about more information concerning the United Nations. Any alert reader would certainly want to know what the exciting, powerful, and far reaching life impacting secrets were that could be learned from Jehovah?s Witnesses in regards to the United Nations! The quote from the ?Awake? is listed below: Jehovah?s Witnesses firmly believe that the United Nations is going to play a major role in world events in the very near future. No doubt these developments will be very exciting. And the results will have a far-reaching impact on your life. We urge you to ask Jehovah?s Witnesses in your neighborhood for more details on this matter. The Bible clearly paints a picture showing that the United Nations will very shortly be given power and authority. The UN will then do some very astonishing things that may well amaze you. And you will be thrilled to learn that there is yet a better way near at hand that will surely bring eternal peace and security! (Awake/1991/Sept/8th/page-10/). After reading this information, the curious reader went to the UNBISNET website and started clicking on different subjects to see if Jehovah?s Witnesses, and the United Nations had a (News) page where he could learn more about this exciting news. One of those subjects was (Voting) , and this is how his investigation started. The main page for this site can be found here:
http://unbisnet.un.org/ The rest of the investigation by the curious reader is provided for you by the scans shown. Scan 1 shows where the reader clicked first. After scrolling down a bit on the main page and looking under (Voting Records), the reader clicked on (New Browse List Search). When the 2nd page appeared or scan # 2, the curious reader then typed in the words: (Watchtower Bible And Tract Society), and clicked the (red) GO button! The 3rd page came up and revealed (matching) U.N. doc symbols for the name Watchtower Bible And Tract Society. They are listed as:
    (1) UN symbol= S/Res/15..(2003)
    (2) UN symbol= S/Res/15..(2003) After clicking on each one of those symbols listed and matching under the (Watchtower) name, the reader found U.N. Resolutions with a vote of (Yes) located beside the words (Voting Summary) in scans #4 and #6. Scan # 4 listed a vote of (Yes) U.N. meeting No. 4862 and scan # 6 listed a vote of (Yes) at U.N. meeting No. 4867 When our reader clicked on (Full text: English), located just above the words (Agenda Information on scans # 4 and # 6 he found out what the U.N. Resolutions were about, and that the Watchtower had given a vote of (Yes) regarding these United Nations issues. The curious reader had concluded that the exciting United Nations news that was described in the ?Awake? magazine, must be the news of just how close the U.N. and Jehovah?s Witnesses had become over the years. This is why the reader was so shocked! Finding out that the Watchtower Society had taken part in voting on United Nations Resolutions, just did not make much sense to the reader because he had also previously read the quote listed below. The last book of the Bible describes it. Revelation, chapter seventeen, pictures it as a scarlet-colored ?wild beast? with seven heads and ten horns, and which is ridden by the international religious harlot, Babylon the Great. According to Revelation 17:7-12, that ?wild beast? must be the Eighth World Power, the international organization for world peace and security, the United Nations. (Watchtower/1976/Jan/15th/page-48) It was getting late and time for the reader to end his search for information. He was tired and pondered over the ability of the Watchtower Bible And Tract Society to speak out of both sides of it?s mouth. The reader decided to sum up all of his findings by putting it all in perspective, and by collecting his thoughts, he added up all of this new found information into one word. He called it Hypocrisy! And now that I have reviewed his research, I agree!

The curious reader had concluded that the exciting United Nations news that was described in the Awake magazine must be the news of just how close the U.N. and Jehovah's Witnesses had become over the years.

The other news is that I now have more respect for the UN than for the WTBTS.

Sorry to burst the bibliographic bubble, as this seems at first glance like quite the damning find.

    http://unbisnet.un.org/

You get the same results if you use only a "W" in the second field. The identical results are available if you enter any of the following: "walk"; "wither"; "wonder"; and even "we don't need no education". The WTS has never had voting authority with the UN, although there is some documentation that strongly suggests a WTS representative was named as an observer to the UN.

In my opinion, it is incredibly important that we try to destroy our own accusations and see if they stand the test of the same critical analysis we want to inspire in others.

    Respectfully,

Well they only joined to get a library card!

I for one always vote on resolutions at my library. And besides, what is wrong with voting?

    ... never mind.

There were 15 voting parties for these resolutions shown above. Each of the voting parties (countries) are listed there.

The Watchtower does not have voting powers in the UN Security Council.
