to AVSHAI and TALESIN regarding my proverb "Men use love to get sex and Women use sex to get Love'. This proverb I heard on the Oprah Show and was mention by a FEMALE Pycologist, as far as it being a sexist comment is concerned I suppose who ever speaks the proverb would have to be of some gender.

That's my point exactly. It's usually used by Women. Against men. So her being a FEMALE psychologist is fine.

Men in this society are generally portrayed as manipulative horny beasts, only using love for sex, led around by their peckers. I for one am sick of it.

Boy, I wish there were more men on this forum like Avishai. He is exactly right. It takes courage to stand up to the sterotypical feminist drivel that is spouted on and on adnausem giving all men a bad name. I for one have been tired of this nonsense for years. Too bad most men are afraid of confronting these "sterotypes" or worse lend credence to the fallacy as well. M'

Thinker, that is why I wanted a male to respond.

It's an old expression that we should perhaps examine.

Easy to see how it's sexist to women. It states that I am a whore for love. Oops, well, I've never used sex to get what I want. I've also never said 'no' to my partner for manipulative reasons. It's a fallacy that women are like that in general, and needs to be thrown out.

And men? Well, if we keep telling them they don't know how to love, they will continue to believe it!

Avi already addressed that from the male pov.

No offense to you intended. I enjoy Oprah, too, and that rings a bell. Although it's true that many people feel that saying is true, I don't. Why perpetuate a dark-ages myth? Let's join the 21st century!

Ummm, Avi is spouting 'feminist drivel'! Part of the goal of the mainstream movement is to expose stereotypes of both genders.

Perhaps you should do a little research into feminist thought. I notice you like to make statements like this a lot. Feminists are not manhaters, you don't seem to be able to clue into that.

Unfortunately, tal, like you mentioned in the "accent thread" a rude, loud, vocal minority of "victim feminists" tend to give the rest of those looking for real equality some problems. It's unfortunate in any "movement". The rude loudmouth's are thought to speak for everyone when often they don't.

    Back to that Archaic phrase.

"Men use love for sex, Women use Sex for love"

When I was a young lad, I found out quickly how untrue that one was. Without revealing too much, on more than one occasion, I was led to believe that there was something between me and a lady, only to find out the next day she had a boyfriend, she was engaged, etc. I've been used fairly brutally by more than one woman in the past. Financially, spiritually, phisically and yeah, sexually. Do i come out and woman bash? No. That would be plain silly.

The ongoing tale that this is Man's territory is demeaning to women as well, it perpetuates that silly pedestal stereotype, and lessens there own equality and humanity IMO. The more that we can actually be realistic about gender expectations the less that the above hurt will happen, imo. We're people, Dammit.

Yes, there ARE gender differences. And they are GREAT. But women being less capable of lust and more capable of emotional love ain't one of those gender differences.

well, I might add that man in general do have a bigger sex-drive as a consequence of biology but the expression in general is just false.

Ah, thanks, but no thanks. I'll draw my own conclusions as to what the goals of the feminist movement are now or have been in the past. All of what you have said concerning me is besides the point. I was commenting on how men themselves have bought into the misnomers concerning their own "biology" and their so called all consuming sexual desire.

Oh and by the way quite a few feminist's are or were manhaters. I have probably done more research in the last 5 years than you've done in your entire life on this subject. Since you brought it up lets look at some of these manhaters:

Valerie Solanas: wrote the scum manifesto, then later killed andy warhol (a man)

Andrea Dworkin: Anti-porn advocate(I guess men put guns to women head and made them full blown porn stars huh?)

Gloria steinem: Advocated a whole generation of women not marrying and then in a nice hypocritical fashion got married herself.(surprisingly to a man)

Mary Dalys: Held a radical vision of gendercide.(guess which gender?)

    On and on adnausem....
