You're right about being helped depending on being in the right clique.

    It's a popularity contest.

We helped many people move but when it came time to help us...

Once when I moved, people at work came over. It was a good thing because no one from the KH showed up despite their agreeing to do so.

Then the elders had the nerve to counsel me about bad association.

Reminded me of the account of the good samaritan where the Jewish priest and Levite walked by and it was the despied Samaritan than helped the Jewish man.

Get this nerve, my hubby gets a call from some brother we don't even know, saying he was driving a Semi-Moving Rig from down south and he wanted my husbands to arrange to have some of our local brothers to meet him over at a storage unit to help him unload this huge moving truck. What the he**.Is that nervey or what, we didn't no him nor did we owe him this help, my hubby said: We can't even get brothers to help our local friends in a move let alone help someone from out of state, who got our phone number........but my hubby was very diplomatic, he asked: where the storage unit was and he would try to arrange to get some brothers to meet him.........the man hung feeling loved , and my husband said to me: YEAH RIGHT BUDDY AND WENT ON WITH HIS DAY LIKE HE NEVER GOT THE CALL...............that trucker never called back.................could it be the brotherly love he was hoping for.............NOT,HOW THE HECK DID HE EVEN GET OUR NUMBER?

Yeah. My newly widowed mom and her three boys, when we needed to move? Our cong. did'nt move us. The new tenant's church did. The mormon's. The dubs' were too busy out in service.

We always helped pple move. But when we needed help no one helped us

My family moved so many times it wasn't funny. From ages 8 to 18 my family moved 13 times. When we lived in OK, the cong always helped. They mad a get together out of it. People would help us move, we'd have a cookout, people would sing kingdom songs etc. They always seemed happy to help..but they prolly secretly hated us and our gypsy roots..haha

In California, we got no help...I think the cong was kinda of afraid of us..we were the redneck friends in a white collar cong :>) Well, not that white collar, but we were definitely outcats...one pio sister told my mom that we really neede to go back to Oklahoma where we belonged. So we did..just w/o their help

Even though people like ignore / shun me b/c im on reproof- I get asked to help EVERY FREAKING BODY who moves. Why?? I don't know. It's fun though- I get to laugh at all the elders who are weak as sh!t....

You look like the type who's available. Tell 'em to eat stool!

If you're a big strong guy people will try to make manual labor your lot in life. They won't care if your back is all screwed up by the time you're 21. And permenently injuring your back is easier than you think. Don't give in to them. Don't wreak your body just so someone else can save a few bucks. Tell them to hire someone who's insured against such injuries.

In short, don't make the same mistakes I did.

What an arrogant, snooty *itch!! I despise elitist, holier-than-thou, intolerant people. Just makes ya want to pour your drink in their faces when they talk like that. (I aint admitting to nuthin )

I like red-necks! Most of my family is one! hahaha
