The WT is totally paranoid of the internet because of sites like this one for instance, which uncovers the WT crapola. I knew some very paranoid JWs who had never used the internet and were scared to death that something like demon was going to jump out of the screen at them if they ever did attempt to use it.

That is another thing...it was very hard for me to feel paranoid about the Internet because I grew up with it: I have been using BBS'es since I was 13 and I had my first ISP account in 1994. By the time the WTS came out with its articles about the "scary" Internet, I was used to searching for stuff online and I thought it was laughable that the brothers & sisters less computer literate thought the only thing to get on the Net was porn, bomb-making material, and apostate info. I wish I had let more of my friends know back then how wrong I thought the WTS was on the Net...maybe if they felt more like me then it wouldn't seem so scary to take a look at sites like this.

Ugh... It's only just dawned on me how much they regurgitate the same lame excuses why you shouldn't do ANYTHING worthwhile that they consider threatening. I remember being told "You should spend your free time in service to Jehovah and reading the publications" as the reason I couldn't do pretty much anything growing up, sports, movies, clubs etc etc etc.

I also loved the somewhat cryptic line of reasoning about the organization being the only line of communication that Christians need. Since I use the internet for things like coupons and recipes also are they going to start putting those in the publications? Might be a good idea. I wouldn't mind perusing an Awake magazine to get $1 off my next purchase of Tide. Of course next thing people would be getting disfellowshipped for putting walnuts in their chocolate chip cookie recipes.... that would be going beyond what is written.

Ok... sorry. Its late and Im tired.

What a bunch of idiots. A talk based on reference material from 2002 and 1999!!??.

Are you guys not paying attention? email, web pages, wooh, scarrry stuff.

Have you heard about short text messaging, instant messaging, PDA's, Blackberry's and Trios? Surely these are tools from Satan as well.

Those who are hasty to reveal such matters often do not have all the facts.

Maybe they don't have all the facts, but they certainly have more facts than the society wants known.

That "slave" has the responsibility to cover their asses determine what information is made available to the household of faith, as well as "the proper time" for it to be dispensed.

Yes, it's all about controlling information.

6 Internet Web Sites: We have an official Internet Web site: www.watchtower.org. This site is adequate to make information available to the public. There is no need for any individual, committee, or congregation to prepare a Web page about Jehovah?s Witnesses. Some have posted the contents of our publications with all scriptures and references given in full and have even offered copies of convention material on a donation basis. Whether profit is involved or not, the practice of reproducing and distributing publications of Jehovah?s Witnesses in an electronic document is a violation of copyright laws. While some may view this as a service to the brothers, it is not approved and should be discontinued.

Since the preaching work? is the "most important work going on in this time of the end?" you would think they would encourage the distribution of their publications. This is "life saving spiritual food?", right? They're not concerned about profits, are they? Shouldn't they be more concerned with avoiding becoming bloodguilty? in Jehovah's eyes?

Ah, but you see, PDAs and text messaging isn't where the danger is. The danger is in the Internet. Scores of web pages debunking the teachings of the WTS. They have to keep warning their followers to stay away from where the real danger to the WTS lies. PDAs and some text messaging isn't going to significantly hurt them, but the Internet, there's the real menace.

    HE HE,

I had the servicemeeting part for the Nov 1999 KM. My research for that part is why I'm here!

Found H2O and switched the JWD shortly after. The Watchtower paranoia only gets the smart and curious looking around. The rest don't care and would not leave no matter what evidence you present to them.

Spending valuable time on the internet instead of reading poison material dispensed by Joe Hoba's organisation is the reason I'm an apostate.

Apparently too many are getting caught looking at porn so this timely article, chock-full of life-giving all-you-can-eat buffet of fine spiritual food is needed.

Its like the old joke, are you paranoid if they really are out to get you? I think the WBTS has good reason to be very paranoid.

Aw brother, here comes more of the same old encouragement to stay away from the Internet as much as possible.
