The question thing is funny because when a friend of mine was df'ed she said they started asking all these VERY intimate questions during the JC meeting. One of the brothers kept pulling his coat down because he had a huge erection that he was trying to cover! She said it was almost like she was working a porn line! She finally pointed out that if they wanted to get off they DID have wives at home and walked out! (she was a little hottie!)

you can opt out of a JC, although you can't do it repeatedly without raising some suspicions, or at least some questions.

Excatcly... you can only say no so many times. I have served on 3 since doubting. It isnt fun let me tell you, I almost wanted to cry in one of them. Fortunately the other brothers were not cruel either so it was bearable and I didn't have to speak up and say anything suspicious to defend the accused.

That is a tough question and brings up a lot of bad memories. I was attempting to fade and was really struggling with my own sanity. A young girl confessed to having sex and a jc was formed, with me as part of the lynching gang. We heard her story, although I made sure she did not have to give any explicit details. After she left the room the other two elders said that this is cut and dry, she needs to be df?ed.

I attempted to argue the case that since she confessed we could extend forgiveness. I was especially interested in helping the girl out because she had a tough background. In fact, I finally got the group to agree to meet with her one more time. However, the other elders would not allow me to explain to the girl that she could avoid the axe if she showed a sufficient amount of sorrow.

The next meeting came and after we met with her it was obvious that the other elders were not going to change their minds. I finally acquiesced and agreed to the df?ing. Had I been a little emotionally stronger I would have fought a lot harder. I have not heard what the outcome of the girl was. I hope she is doing ok.

Just curious, what do you all think about a comittee of elders who are all realated? 2 brothers and a father in law? And, One of them had an affair years ago with my mother and was disfellowshipped for it. Should they have been the ones to handle my case?

NOPE! They shoulda got elders from outside the congo if there werent enough unrelated bros to handle the case

Those 3 elders should NOT have served on your comm. In the Pay Attn book (elder's manual) one of the last pages in section 5, says elders that may have a bias should not serve on comm. At one of our BOE meetings with CO it was mentioned this would include relatives.

You could have appealed, stating the brothers were biased. I wonder if the CO noticed that when he visited the congregation?

The elder that had an affair with my mom was really upset that she went in and confessed. So, I can only imagine he didnt care for me too much. I did appeal their decision, cause I felt I was very repetant, but not because they were related. I brought this up to the elder that was here a few weeks ago, and he looked as shocked as hell. So did the co.

    I'll bet.

Amazing what inbred little tyrants will do if they think no one is watching. You know that CO was scratching his head saying what the hell were these morons thinking? Most CO's at least no the right "procedure" even if they don't follow the "spirit" of it.

I wouldn't be surprised if your "case" got thrown out if you "played" it right. imo

My dad was an elder and was on many, many JC's. I know how tough it was for him. There were times he came home crying. There were also times he came come, called another JC elder and tore him a new asshole! I learned to swear from my dad!
