Any witnesses celebrating a birthday?

I know a witness couple, which includes an elder. They always made a point of mentioning "that special day" and would go for dinner or something to "acknowledge" the day, without flat out saying happy birthday.

Growing up JW, of course we never, ever, celebrated ANYTHING!

But, my mom would always make a special cake on the day I was born, and I got to make the first slices. Gramma would always make sure she bought me something special that week.

With Gramma I could play "Christmas". We'd decorate one of her plants with the old christmas ornaments she hadn't thrown out, and wrap empty boxes as gifts and put them under the tree. Then we'd have the pumpkin I helped her make earlier that day.

In subtle ways they let me know I was special, and I treasure those.

    Hugs

    Brenda

YES, I know President of WTS JR Rutherford did celebrate Christmas together with Bethel Family even after "annointed ones" left Babylon the Great (after 1919). The picture is in the book "In Search of Christian freedom" by Ray. Franz. jwsons
