4th Sept. may be the best time for me... will depend on available funds etc cos I'll have just come back from a trip with my daughter....
Not sure yet whether I'll be in the car or bike - will depend on if my wife wants to come too. If she does, It'll be in the car and could possibly collect anyone needing transport along the route - M!, M62, M6.... otherwise would have room for one on the bike....!
.. I can smell the peat and heather already.......
Bull!
4th (maybe Glasgow??):
25th (maybe Edinburgh??):
Others, yet to express a preference:

Unlikely, that far south, laddie
Peat cutting is predominantly an Island thing, and even there it's on the decline.
What company do you suspect you'd fly with?
I'm wondering if Robyn has checked that one for a direct flight to Edinburgh.
It appears (haven't bought ticket yet) that I will be flying American Airlines into and out of Glasgow. Glasgow tickets cost less. I am looking at B&B costs in both Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Does anybody know of any budget lodging in those places? I'm not having much luck on the internet searches. I have found a couple of hostels but would prefer a private room to sleep. I don't mind sharing a public water closet with others though.
Hi folks
Haven't had much time to look at the board - good to see this thread!
My own preference is for Glasgow, not sure if the 4/5 is any good tho - will know nearer the time, fingers crossed.
Being a Festal Virgin, I don't know the usual format. The Merchant City area of Glasgow is great for eating places and pubs. There is a wide range of places that cover most types of food. I can make recommendations if required.
Robdar - I can do a dig around for accomodation - get you prices/locations if you are staying in Glasgow. PM me if required.

FF:Good man!!
I'm gonna PM Scotsman for some suggestions for Edinburgh.
I have my own preferences but as I'm only a traveller to both cities, myself, I'd rather hear local suggestions.
Hmm,
*Hurrys off to check train, coach and flight prices*

Oi LT! Good woman! Don't ya recognise a pink squiggly thing denoting femaleness!!!!
FF
FF:Hoots mon, yer all men in my book
Actually, no, I didn't notice that you'd changed your gender
But now you come to mention it (and since you've put it on public display) may I be the first to say that you have an adorable little pink squiggly thing (and I don't say that to all the gals, I have to tell ya!!!), but should you really be flashing it around in pubic?
Look forward to meeting you
Glasgow on the 4th would be better for us.
But we need to get moving with a B&B's if thats going ahead - so we need a venue !
