Ahhh! Those dreaded elders meetings! Who's had one and what was it about? Was it something as serious as someone heard from Bro. Brown's wife's sister's cousin seeing you come out of a nightclub Or maybe something so dumb and trivial you wonder where the elders get the time to play Men In Blcak. Share your stories ol' fallen ones of the "truth"!

When I was an MS, our PO pulled me into the elders room (they had a seperate room at our hall) and counseled me for seeing a rated R film. You know, I was supposed to be an example. I guess one of my friends that I went with ratted me out. No biggie, it was an awful movie anyway, An American Warewolf in Paris or something.

I have never met with elders, i owe them nothing and would not wast my time. To me they are nothing but a cult driven force, behind the wet- tower.

I am not sure that I remember one of the last meetings I had with an elder/the elders as a mightmare, but it was interesting for them and me both........... It was during the visit of the Circuit Overseer, and the general subject was Bart (then aged 26 - 27) and his future in "Jehovah's Organization" --- Went something like this: Brother Old: "Bart, we are very pleased with your contributions to the congregation, and the work you do with 'the young ones' " Brother Older: "Indeed! We would like to encourage you to stretch out and advance in the Kingdom effort. And as a single brother, we believe that the Ministerial Training School would be a good option." Brother Yet Older: "We could could submit your application this week, while Brother Traveling Show is here, and you could posssibly be in your assignment within a year!" Bart (in the middle of a circle of VERY senior elders, in "the back room"): "Well, that all sounds very nice..........." Bart: "But I am pretty sure I will not be a witness in a year" I excused myself, endured a very frosty interaction with the senior braintrust for the last few months as a servant, and just kinda faded into "The World"...............

Towards the end of my exodus, I was being called in every week. Sometimes I'd get a call in the midle of the night, and they wanted to see me "right now" only to get there and they had nothing to say.

The last time they called me in, after the meeting. I gave them my papers, told them I was stepping down, that I was leaving the school, that I would not support them in any, shapr or form, so don't ask me to hold the door, rove the mic, or seat anybody ... and by-the-way ... get the book study out of my house!

It's what they wanted, so I gave it to them. But now I was a bigger threat, because they had nothing to hold over my head, no duties to deprive me of. So I played with them for 6 months, and then disappeared. Twelve years later, I'm still disappearing.

My stupidest elders meeting: I was about 14/15 and had gone to CA to spend the summer with a JW family that used to live in my area. While I was there I told my friend - an adult - that one of the elders was touching me inappropriately in my swimming pool. Nothing totally horrible - running his hand up and down my hip. Well, she didn't tell me but she called my home cong. and reported it. When I got home I got pulled into a meeting with my mom, the elders, the elder AND his wife and I was questioned about it.

Now people....what the F was that supposed to accomplish?!? Like I was going to talk about it in front of the man's sweet wife. And do you think my mom could have talked to me about it before the meeting??? Out of simple concern for her daughter?? It makes me sick to think about it now. I don't think they believed it even happened.

Interestingly - the same elder was having a "youth group" for the young people in our cong. and he kept getting in trouble because he wasn't supposed to have it. Hmmmmm I wonder why???

At an elders meeting with the CO, we discussed a certain young bro whom I thought would make a good MS. The PO blind sided me with "oh, I recently heard that he attended a Pearl Jam concert." I said "what's the big deal? I like there music". All hell broke loose. The next day we had another meeting the PO brought in Pearl Jam lyrics and read them to me. Was kind of funny hearing him swear as he read the lyrics. Arguing with the PO about Pearl Jam and what their songs mean. Geez, how pathetic. He even said "Look, they have a song called "Evolution" so they must support that doctrine." lol. Looking back, they probably did the kid a favor by not appointing him.

i knew i was leaving after much debate with the elders in my hall but they kept me on the list for a #5 talk..instead of using the card i created my own topic and lectured the elders in my hall...during the break for the second meeting they pulled me in the back room..i told them not to bother me anymore and never went back since.....a time before that the elders pulled me in the backroom to discuss what i done with a sister at the drive in...so stupid..i told them all we did is let the kids see a rated G movie..but they kept on about dating and not being escorted..i told them my children are over ten years old..i totally went off on those idiots and knew it was time to give up my m.s position and leave..
