The US would have a VERY hard time establishing Martial Law. It could be done for a short term basis but a long term would drain too many resources. But, on the bright side, if we have all of these Military people walking around, it would be a prime time to invade Canada

    Just some food for thought.

At the end of the Clinton presidency, there was a lot of speculation on talk-radio that Clinton would find a way to suspend the election results and The Constitution to keep himself in Office. I never believed it, and chalked it up to a bunch of far-right Clinton haters being overly paranoid.

Now I see the far left parroting the same idea. What comes around goes around, I guess.

    LABD,

I remember that, now that you mention it. FWIW, I think that these bizarre little rumours, if they get people to have a real interest in the voting process, and realize what it means to them, then something good can come from a bad thing.

the republican convention is going to be held in NYC this August and there are rumblings of some kind of an attack in NYC.

I am particularly concerned as my oldest daughter is attending ballet camp at Julliard this summer and I am insisting that she be accompanied by an adult each day into the city. My wife and I are alternating driving her in. We do not take the midtown tunnel; we do not take the train.

There was a time when this would have been so simple.....

I agree with your general premise. However, I do not agree with scaring people into voting.

That sounds like something the Democrats would do, LOL

    LABD,

That could be true. I'm not a Dem. I usually vote Libertarian.

Well, then again I think there should be some sort of competency test before a person is allowed to vote. That would reduce idiots being bussed into Miami polls that can't even figure out how to use a voting machine

Oh, my god!!!!!!!! Don't let any NAACP people read that. Someone take it down. LOL

I would love to vote Libertarian, but until they can put together some strong local campaigns, I just can't see myself doing that.

In California its a bit hard for the LP, because one you have a lot of new immigrants that tend to vote DEM, and potential Lib's are usually voting republican and view Libertarians as potential election spoilers. But anymore, as Republicans spend taxpayer's money like it was water, I don't see how fiscal conservatives are able to stomach anything else.

    Gita,

I agree with you there. The immigrant issue is a problem. This is coming from a third generation offspring of Mexican immigrants.

That said, I have yet to see a viable Libertarian run for a local or state office. I like alot of what the LP stands for. Maybe moving to a state that is less politically bifurcated than California.

    Then again, NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
