Would You Care If You Got Disfellowshipped At This Point In Time?

Ruby, I don't see hatred here. I see ignorance (on your part). Any oaths made to God under false information is not binding. Jehovah is a god of truth not deception. The Witness religion is filled with lies.

I don't think I would care, it would just bug me that I was playing by

    their rules..... My D.O. brother in-law asked why I didn't D's myself

and that was my answer......"Not playing by your rules".

Personally I couldn't give a #?*%. It wouldn't make a difference to my life, if I only had myself to worry about, or association with the witnesses.

But, having an unbaptised gfriend, who is working towards baptism, and baby living in a JW household, it would cause all sorts of problems!

I definitely don't want to end up in the same situation as Flash!!!!!

Undercover and BluesBrother hit the nail right on the head with their comments. I could cope with my family shunning me - if their cult is more important to them than their family then they can stuff their conditional loyalty - but losing my daughter would finish me off!! Hopefully, the plans I have in place will sort out any long term risks.

    Mulan - Good Luck!

    galaxy7 - Nice 1!

In summary, Odrade put it perfectly:

    Stupid f***ing religion.

P.S. ruby, my friend, are you still a JW or what is your situation at the moment?

    minimus,

You sabotaged one of the few threads that I have started in recent months, and it got locked, thanks to your incessant whining about YOUR rights to free speech, and my efforts to exercise the same.. You get 500 posts compared to my one post, and yet you are not satisfied with that. You are greedy beyond greedy.

I hope you are proud of your efforts towards the mods REMOVING MY free speach in my OWN thread so that you can exercise YOUR free speach, in YOUR own thread, Minimus.

You are a piece of work. I feel sorry for you. Truly. You are so sad beyond sad that I can do nothing but feel sorry for you.

Being disfellowshipped should be no real shocker. When you took an oath and were baptized you were made well aware at that time that failing to keep that promise would result in being disfellowshiped. It's not as if they are trying to trick you........

    Hello Ruby and welcome.

The rules, policies and edicts of the WTBTS are far overreaching into the lives and consciences of its members. They seek and succeed in controlling far too many aspects of a Christian's existence. Jesus told the Jewish leaders that they burden the people with many (man-made) laws aside from God's written law and don't even lift a single finger to lighten their load. The WTBTS has followed suit.

I was disfellowshipped for smoking while one of the elders on the committee to df me was himself a closet smoker and adulterer himself for many years. The WTBTS spends way too much time discussing the technicalities of df-ing offenses the Bible never even touches on, and what policies that are passed down are mostly based on the Governing Body's personal views and preferences.

Anger? You haven't even scratched the surface.

    Ruby, why were you disfellowshipped???

we all know that the rabble tend to associate disfellowshipping with immoral conduct of some kind, and I would not appreciate that label.

Well, to each his own. I personally am PROUD to say I had the courage to get involved in the many, vast number of things that JW's consider "immoral"

Because get what, I HAVE a life. Yes, I vote, celebrate Christmas, birthdays, basically everything. I love a mean game of blackjack in gambling casino now and then. So I had sex before marriage (like about 99.9% of most people do in this day and age); I don't restrict myself to G and PG movies...the list goes on.

I laugh because the only reason I'm not disfellowshipped is because of my pioneer mother's standing in the cong. My dad's not a believer, but very supportive. There'd be too much 'splanin to do to my extended family about why she couldn't talk to me. Yes, the ugly truth about disfellowshipping and JW's treatment of family would be exposed to the scrutiny of the outside world.

Oh, really. At what age do you feel a person should be allowed to enter into a contract of such vast importance? Seems to me that children (and by that, I mean people under the age of 18 in this country) are not considered to be legally competent to enter into such a contract. Do you support a child getting married at 12-13? Do you think a child of that age as the emotional and mental maturity to TAKE such an oath?

I, as were many other JW's raised in the borg, were highly PRESSURED in several ways to get baptized. I wasn't old enough to know what the implication was. Especially given the fact that I know now that as people mature their POV often changes.

Was I "tricked?" Damn right I was. Wasn't Jesus baptized at 30? How can the JW's justify pushing a kid of 10-18 getting baptized, a decision which will have implications for the rest of their life??

    I was 9 when I became a "baptized minister".

9, eh, can't even drive until you are 16, and drink (legally) until 21, or vote until 18, get married w/o parents' permission until 18, but dedicate your life to God, 9!

    What a world!
