I'm sorry I just had to post this. I'm sitting reading all the post on the TV shows and movies we weren't allowed to watch. I am now completely hysterical laughing out loud at how insane this all was. Everything was demonized. I so completely believed it. I was afraid of everything. I would never buy anything from a tag sale or thrift shop. DEMONS!!!!!!I use to go to sleep reciting Jehovah, Jehovah, Jehovah, and where the Hell did that get me. LOL pc

Yes, and now my mother tells my youngest brother that he shouldn't associate with me because I'm demonized. I laughed so hard I cried.

I think thats the one word that they can say that is SO bad that you can count on capitulation. Except in my brother's case mentioned above, he laughed too.

Yes, indeed! My ol' JW Aunt-Fanatical-Drunken-Wino Ester held that everything was demonized. Sometimes my poor mom would jump on board with that crap, too.

When the song, One Tin Soldier came out with the Billy Jack movie back in the early 70's, she (my aunt) forbade all of us to listen to that song since one of the lines was "go ahead and hate your neigbor, go ahead and cheat a friend . . . " She said it was demonized.

So was the plastic arrangement of roses my gramma had on her wall, as was a copy of Helter Skelter we had in our book case, and the stuffed toy bunny I was given by a "worldly" friend. It was insanity and she was/is a maniac. I have had anxiety attacks, sleep paralysis mistaken for demon attacks, and demon paranoia my whole JW life. I am happily free of that paranoia now and I no longer fear the demons as I was taught to as a child. Neither do I have "demon attacks" anymore. God! What insane slavery to nothing!

Hey! Aunt Esther! Boo! You suck!

Interesting indeed. I recall when I first started having doubts about the BORG, and sincerely asked my mother and my aunt, if they ever heard of Beth-Sarim in California, and my aunt said "Oh Jehovah, he's demonized." Being branded 'demonized' by one of the matriarchs in the family doesn't help your relationship with the rest of the family, especially with the children. I became the proveribal saying - "Don't leave the Organization, if you do, you might end up like Larry - Demonized!

I had left some of my records at my mother's house. When I went to go pick them up a couple of weeks ago, she said, "I was going to record some of them, but most of them are demonized!" I had to laugh. Here's some of the albums that were in there:

OMG, I know what you mean, PC. I would have "demon attacks" in my sleep and I would pray to Jehovah, I would cry out or at least whisper Jehovah, but they never let me alone until they wanted to. They stopped bothering me when I finally said to them firmly, "leave me alone and don't ever come back . . . ever!"

"Jehovah" was the magic word wasn't it? Just say it and nothing bad will happen to you.

I always watched TV people thought was demonized; I mean, in Canada, you can't have a normal life if you don't. Has anyone noticed how JWs watch as violent and pornographic shows as anyone else as long as they don't contain anything to do with religion, spiritism, et cetera? Maybe it was only in my area.

I watched Harry Potter on Sunday for the first time....and I watched Ghost not all that long ago and to think before I would have been afraid to watch them!

I can't think of whether I read it or dreamt it, but does anybody remember that Watchtower article that spoke of a woman who used to go online and read apostate literature?

Apparently, she repented after she 'felt a presence' in her room. Demons! Yes, demons had possesed her home by coming down the telephone line!

The elders got rid of these demons though after she begged forgiveness, and they even heard the demons scream as her modem burnt on a fire in her garden.
