Thanks for the link! I'm speechless! They were specifically saying not to plan ahead past 1975 and then turned around and said that it was the rank and file who were the ones who made those decisions. Wow! Just wow.

Not just that-- it wasn't until the publisher numbers began to shrink that they decided to even say anything about it, and their first attempt was to claim to have been misunderstood by an overeager rank and file. It wasn't until much later that they modified the language to admit that maybe they were also partly at fault.

The GB has since learnt to only imply dates and never to put a date in writing

    1989 mistake

    Yes.

They've been caught lying in their magazines,,,presumptuousness in proclaiming things that were to happen,,,but didn't materialize obviously.

Most notably ie) the 1975 debacle &,, the 1989 the mistake as outlined above

There is a reason why they dont want """you""" to research the Borgs past,,,,,,and why they want their older literature back.

Because they've failed and were caught lying.

Yes, when the C.O. came to the hall once and saw a large amount of very old volumes he reacted as if we'd been keeping porno mags in the kingdom hall library!!🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

The last circuit overseer we had before I left was not a born in C.O.

The servants and elders meeting he took with us focused heavily on the evils of pornography.

He put down his notes at one point and said

"Brothers I was in the world for most of my adult life till I got the truth 25 years ago.I was in a rough and ready trade with rough men.

We all looked at pornography. - Figures (from memory) suggest 8/10 or was it 80 percent of men will look at some sort of pornography."

I think he was telling us all not to bullshit him as a former worldly man...

wasanewboy, I had forgotten about that "completed in our 20th century" quote! Was there any Y2K madness in the Kingdom Halls? A few end times prophets associated with mainstream Christianity did a similar calculation to the WT regarding six thousand years = 6 days in God's timetable and that the seventh "day" was going to be the day of rest, The Millennium. In their case they had 2000 as the end of 6000 years and Y2K was going to destroy society and usher in the GT, The Millennium and so on.

    ROAD TO NOWHERE:

Too bad I wasn’t told about the 1975 failure when I was ‘studying’ with the Witnesses.

They made sure this information was kept hidden from potential converts. There was no internet in the late ‘70s and I didn’t know the history of the JW religion. If I did, I might have had second thoughts about getting involved with them. We can never really know how our life would have turned out if we took a different path.. But, I’m just grateful now I resisted these busybodies from interfering with my life/job years ago.
